Sophie Turner, Liam Hemsworth Among Stars in Quibi’s 4 ‘Movies in Chapters’
Frequent YouTube visitors may have noticed a new set of ads popping up before the videos begin. They have the feel of a feature film and a cast to match, but at the end of these ads, the logo for “Quibi” appears. It’s not a fluke; these movies are due out soon on Quibi.
The streaming platform will go live in April 2020, offering films, docuseries, news content, and TV shows in its lineup. Numerous A-listers are attached to projects on Quibi, including Sophie Turner, Liam Hemsworth, Eva Longoria, and Queen Latifah.
Here’s a peek at the four movies debuting first on the video app.
‘Most Dangerous Game’
Liam Hemsworth stars alongside Christoph Waltz in Most Dangerous Game, a high-stakes thriller where Hemsworth’s character is just trying to stay alive.
A synopsis from Quibi reads:
“Desperate to take care of his pregnant wife before a terminal illness can take his life, Dodge Tynes (Liam Hemsworth) accepts an offer to participate in a deadly game where he’s the prey. This dystopian action-thriller explores the limits of how far someone would go to fight for their life and their family. Let the games begin.”
‘When the Street Lights Go On’
Chosen Jacobs (Hawaii Five-0, It), Tony Hale, Queen Latifah, and Sophie Thatcher (Prospect) star in this film directed by Rebecca Thomas. The film’s logline reads:
After the murder of a beautiful young girl rocks a suburban community, the victim’s sister and her high school peers must struggle to find a sense of normalcy while coming of age in the midst of the murder investigation.
Based on the novel by Alex Morel, Survive follows Sophie Turner’s Jane who doesn’t want to live anymore. Then a plane crash almost ends it for her. Crawling from the wreckage with the only other survivor (Corey Hawkins), she feels a new drive to stay alive.

Will Forte, Kaitlin Olson, Eva Longoria, and Andy Garcia star in Flipped, a tale of house flipping gone wrong thanks to the cartel. What happens when a couple discovers money hidden in an old stash house? Find out in this dramedy from Quibi which follows Jann and Cricket.
The duo think they have what it takes to become TV’s newest house-flipping couple. Unfortunately, a Mexican drug cartel thinks so too. Now the delusional duo has to survive their newest project — renovating the cartel’s mansions.
What’s the setup for Quibi movies?
Called “Movies in Chapters,” the films will stream in increments of 7 to 10 minutes. Why? Quibi – short for “quick bites” – specializes in short-form content that’s viewed in chunks no longer than 10 minutes each.
The video streaming app works solely on mobile phones and will officially launch on April 6.
Quibi plans to drop more than 8,000 pieces of content in its first year, which includes films and shows from Steven Spielberg, Zac Efron, Idris Elba, Demi Lovato, and Chrissy Teigen.
Each series will run on its own daily or weekly schedule. Viewers can expect all genres: comedy, horror, docuseries, reality competitions, drama, news, and more.
Users can sign up for Quibi’s ad option for $4.99 per month or the ad-free version for $7.99 a month. Upon launch, there will be 50 shows available. Currently, Quibi is running a pre-order special where you can try it out free for 90 days.
