Lil Nas X’s ‘Industry Baby’ music video

Released July 23, 2021, the song “Industry Baby” quickly rose to the top of the charts. The video depicts Lil Nas X in a variety of roles in the criminal justice system. He dances as a judge, prisoner, and defendant.

During the video, a steamy shower scene is shown with Lil Nas X and male dancers seemingly nude. The genital areas of the dancers are pixilated to comply with rating requirements. However, this scene left some viewers wondering if there would be an uncensored version released.

Lil Nas X went on video a week before the release to put parents on notice, the video is not suited for children. The move was to alert the fans that the content in the upcoming video was going to be explicit, and he was not responsible for what their children are exposed to. The new song and video begin with Lil Nas X touting his accolades to the beat, according to Billboard.

Lil Nas X posted a video on TikTok joking about the “uncensored version” of the music video

Not even a week after the release of the music video for “Industry Baby” Lil Nas X teased an uncensored version on TikTok. The selfie-style post included a complete single cover with the shower scene depicted.

Fans flocked to the internet to find the uncensored video, only to find the same video released under an uncensored title, but something was wrong with it.

It was definitely fake, but many fans didn’t realize it

When the new video reached the scene with the male dancers in the shower, the loading circle of death appeared as the song continued in the background. This left the viewers staring at the presumably nude male dancers who paused on the screen for the remainder of the song.

Some fans even thought their phone was broken because of the unending loading circle. The new video turned out to only be a promo for the song, no uncensored version exists anywhere on the internet, according to Snopes.

Lil Nas X has encountered scandals in his music career

Lil Nas X has become the first openly LGBTQ Black artist to win a Country Music Association award among his other two MTV Video Music Awards including Song of the Year, and the American Music Award for Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Song, and his two Grammys. His successes didn’t shield him from scandals.

The introduction of the new song to the world of YouTube came in the form of a joke. Social media exploded about a court hearing between the rapper and Nike over the “Satin Shoes” and he used the publicity to announce the release of “Industry Baby” in a video.

The video was supposed to be a glimpse at the hearing in question but turned out to be a skit, putting Lil Nas X on trial for his sexual orientation. The court date was later held and settled with Nike over the shoes.

Lil Nas X continues to plan for the release of his first album “Montero” on Columbia Records. The album will contain the hit “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Industry Baby” among others. The album is set to release soon, but no definite date has been set.
