Kathryn Dennis has been in the spotlight for a large portion Southern Charm Season 6, and it’s easy to see why. The Southern Charm star is still currently embattled in a custody case with her ex, Thomas Ravenel, who was booted off of the show by Bravo following sexual assault allegations. It’s only natural that the drama should leak into the show, given how it follows the stars’ daily lives.

Since breaking up with Ravenel, Dennis has had her fair share of flings, and one of the most interesting to fans was her fling with producer Whitney Sudler-Smith. To this day, Sudler-Smith doesn’t seem keen on discussing their dalliance. According to Shep Rose, this is why.

Apparently Shep came first

According to Shep Rose, he came before Whitney Sudler-Smith. Now, why this is an important detail to the discussion at the time — which was about Sudler-Smith’s hookup — is anyone’s guess. Probably, it has something to do with Rose’s ego, which wouldn’t be much of a surprise to fans of Southern Charm

Rose was eager to remind fans of the show that he and Kathryn Dennis had a fling in Season 1, and in fact, another since then. When asked about the fling with Rose, Dennis said, “I will say life would be a lot different if I would have pursued him. But I don’t really think I have a one that got away. I think I have a one that won’t go away.” Clearly that last sentence is a jab at Thomas Ravenel, who continues to battle Kathryn Dennis in court, even dragging her nude photos to the courtroom in a recent controversial move.

Not a big love connection

Apparently, it’s no secret that Whitney Sudler-Smith and Kathryn Dennis hooked up. “Everybody knows it happens, but everybody has needs. I don’t think it’s a big love connection,” Shep Rose said in answer to a caller’s question during WWHL.

Patricia Altschul, Sudler-Smith’s mother and Southern Charm grande dame recently told ET, “Here, let me answer this, honey. This is what Whitney told me, he said, ‘I love Kathryn, we’re good friends, but a southern gentleman would never discuss what he does with a lady. You’re talking about consenting adults. So, who cares? My question is, who cares?”

Dennis herself added, “And a southern lady does not discuss what she does with a southern gentleman.”

It’s all about pride

According to Kathryn Dennis, Whitney Sudler-Smith asked her to keep their tryst hush-hush when it first went down. “The first time Whitney and I hooked up he said ‘Don’t tell anyone,’ and I was really intimidated by him at the time so I was like, ‘Okay, I really, really won’t,’” said Dennis. “But at the end of the day, he’s the one that ended up telling everyone. I even lied to Thomas and at that point I was idiotically in love with him.”

In a recent after show, Shep Rose said it was all about pride. “It’s just vanity, it’s straight vanity, and Whitney’s got a lot of it. He’s basically like, ‘if people think I slept with Kathryn then like, A-list actress/models will think I’m undesirable or something, which is absurd.”

“By the way, I don’t think anybody should read into it in any big way. She was out there, lonely, he was sitting on his couch, lonely that night,” said Rose.
