‘Southern Charm’ fans catch Kathryn Dennis in a major lie

As Southern Charm fans are well aware, Dennis claimed that she won back full custody of her children – Kensie and Saint – in 2018 after working through her substance abuse issues. At the time, Dennis had just finished rehab and was undergoing random drug tests to ensure her sobriety.

Although Dennis made it sound like the custody battle was over, she never actually signed the agreement in the summer of 2018, which means that Ravenel retained custody of the children as the primary caregiver. Fast forward to 2019, and Dennis found herself in hot water after failing a drug test.

According to All About The Tea, Dennis tested positive for marijuana a few weeks ago, along with some prescription drugs that she has permission to use. Ravenel was also given a drug test at the same time and passed with flying colors. The failed drug test means that Kathryn Dennis is back to the first phase of their custody agreement, which limits her visits with Kensie and Saint and requires them to be supervised.

Fortunately, Dennis was able to argue her case before a judge and was granted a little more freedom than the original agreement stipulated.

Will Kathryn Dennis lose custody?

Ravenel had the upper hand in their custody battle following the failed drug test. Dennis’ lawyers, however, sprang into action and asked a judge to give the Southern Charm star full visitation rights. Dennis also accused Ravenel of a bunch of bad behavior, though she did not offer any evidence to support the allegations.

While Ravenel was looking to secure full custody, the judge granted Dennis unsupervised visitation. Dennis will be allowed to see her two children five days over a two week period, which means Ravenel gets them the other nine days.

For the time being, Ravenel is considered the custodial parent of Kensie and Saint. It is important to note that the ruling is only temporary, and the matter will be re-addressed in a future hearing. There is no telling what will happen in the final ruling, though Dennis is doing everything in her power to retain joint custody. This includes fighting the failed drug test and proving that she is living a sober life.

The two, of course, have not commented on their ongoing custody battle and likely will not until it is all over.

Why did Kathryn Dennis lose custody in the first place?

Back in 2016, Dennis was forced to enter rehab after failing a drug test. The reality star was using marijuana, opiates, and cocaine at the time and chose a facility in California. Ravenel and his team of lawyers drew up a five-step plan for Dennis to regain custody.

This included completing rehab and being subject to future drug tests. Kathryn Dennis completed all the stages of the agreement and was granted joint custody in June of 2018. Dennis might have to complete the stages once again if she wants to regain her custody rights.

Dennis is not the only one facing a scandal. Last year, a former nanny accused Ravenel of sexually assaulting her in his home. In light of the charges, Ravenel lost his spot on Southern Charm and is scheduled to appear in court to answer for the crime.

It is unclear what will happen to Ravenel once the trial is over, but if he is found guilty, then Dennis would be in a good position to secure full custody of her children.

The only question is whether or not Dennis can stay sober and out of trouble until then. If she can, then she should be able to regain custody in no time.

Fans can watch Kathryn Dennis in action when new episodes of Southern Charm air Wednesday nights on Bravo.
