Spider-Man 3 star Tom Holland has finally learned how to not spoil movies. The actor has accidentally dropped some major spoilers over the years, which prompted Marvel to use drastic measures when it came to Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. But now that Holland has learned his lesson, he claims that Marvel has told him everything about his next stand-alone film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man 3.

Holland claims he knows what will happen in ‘Spider-Man 3’

Marvel went to great lengths to avoid any spoilers ahead of Infinity War and Endgame. Holland was considering a major risk for leaks, which is why the studio limited his access to the scripts. This worked because Holland was not one of the lead characters in the film.

They also reportedly tasked Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch to keep tabs on Holland during the promotional tour and help him avoid revealing any spoilers.

The tactics worked (for the most part), and Tom Holland has apparently learned how to avoid dropping major clues ahead of a movie’s premiere. To that end, Holland recently revealed that he knows exactly what will happen in Spider-Man 3 — and he’s not telling anyone about it.

Marvel, of course, has been very tight-lipped about its plans for the third installment in the popular franchise. The only thing that has been confirmed is that the movie will premiere in 2021.

When did Tom Holland reveal other spoilers?

For a quick reference, there have been plenty of instances where Holland has revealed secret information ahead of a premiere. In the summer of 2018, for instance, Holland accidentally revealed the title of Spider-Man: Far From Home before Marvel made an official announcement.

Holland leaked the information after posting a photo of the script on social media. The actor was trying to update fans about the movie’s progress and did not realize that the title of the project was on full display. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only time Holland has accidentally leaked spoilers.

During the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland revealed that the studio was planning on making the movie part of a trilogy. Fans were already expecting the franchise to come out with more films, but Holland’s comments were the first official confirmation.

Lastly, fans will undoubtedly recall when Tom Holland spoiled the ending to Infinity War in front of a crowded theater. Holland stepped on stage to address fans prior to the start of the film, saying, “I’m alive!” We can only hope that Holland has learned his lesson, especially considering his latest comments about Spider-Man 3.

What did Holland say about ‘Spider-Man 3’?

According to Screen Rant, Holland was asked about his involvement in Spider-Man 3 while promoting his new movie, Onward. The actor revealed that Marvel did not hide anything from him this time around and even threw in a few jokes about his previous flubs.

“I know everything now. I had my big pitch meeting with Marvel and Sony about two weeks ago and I know all the secrets. But I’ve also done about a thousand interviews so I know how not to spoil a movie anymore!” Tom Holland shared.

Holland clearly sounds confident about his ability to avoid spoilers, but only time will tell if he has truly learned how to play things close to the vest. Given how he is playing the lead in the upcoming film, it makes sense that Marvel would tell him everything he needs to know.

Filming for the third installment in the franchise is expected to begin this summer. The movie is scheduled to be released in July of 2021 and will likely be the final standalone film for the character in the MCU.

Holland will likely reprise the role in a larger crossover project, though nothing official has been confirmed on that front.

Tom Holland talks about Spider-Man’s future with Sony

While we wait to hear more from Holland, the Far From Home star recently revealed that Sony had a backup plan in the event that the studio’s deal with Marvel fizzled out.

Last summer, Marvel and Sony seemingly failed to reach an agreement about keeping Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU. Luckily, the two sides eventually came together and inked a deal for one more stand-alone project.

But when Peter Parker’s future was in doubt, Holland revealed that Sony had a creative way to keep his story going outside of the MCU.

“[The] future for Spider-Man was still very bright with Sony and we had a really, really wonderful idea how we could sort of transition into a Spider-Man without the MCU and Tom Rothman and Amy Pascal were really confident that they were gonna do justice and make a film of the caliber that Spider-Man requires,” he explained.

Tom Holland returns in Spider-Man 3 which is due out in theaters in July of 2021.
