He loves Star Wars and Aliens. Sometimes, Peter Parker even shared his love for “really old” music, like the song “Back in Black” featured in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Here’s what we know about this character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and some of his best pop culture references.

Tom Holland portrays Peter Parker (Spider-Man) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

When he’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man is super strong is sticky. In high school, though, this character is a little awkward, especially when it comes to his crush, MJ.

Peter Parker is portrayed by Tom Holland, also known for his appearances in In the Heart of the Sea, Spies in Disguise, The Devil All the Time, and Pixar’s Onward. This character appeared in several Marvel films, making his MCU debut with Captain America: Civil War.

Fans learned more about this character with Spider-Man: Homecoming, where Peter Parker went from friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to mentee of Tony Stark. As one of the youngest Avengers, Peter Parker is also known for his love of all things pop culture.

Peter Parker loves music, even if he gets his Led Zeppelin songs wrong

When he’s not out being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, this character loves watching movies, which sometimes informed his relationship with the Avengers. When he appeared in Captain America: Civil War, he had an idea inspired by a “really old movie,” Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back. He was talking about the “walking thingys” and comparing them to the giant Ant-Man.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Peter Parker had a second film-inspired idea. This one was a reference to another “old movie” titled Aliens. With Iron Man quipping that “the kid’s seen more movies,” they blasted one of Thanos’ children into space.

Peter Parker would even dumpster dive for old technology, including a perfectly good DVD player that was just sitting there. Spider-Man: Far From Home also included plenty of pop culture moments from this superhero. While Peter Parker builds his new Spider-Man suit, Happy put on some music. That was “Back in Black” by AC/DC.

“I love Led Zeppelin,” Parker exclaimed, only further proving that he’s on the “young side,” as Tony would say. Unfortunately, Led Zeppelin wasn’t the band that wrote and performed “Back in Black.”
