Meeting your heroes can turn out nerve-wracking. For Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland, meeting alternate versions of your own hero calls for some backup. In a Spider-Man: No Way Home interview with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, Holland said that the first time he met the previous Peter Parkers, he brought Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as his “support system.”

The ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ star felt nervous about meeting Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield

Tom Holland said he became nervous in his Spider-Man: No Way Home interview with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. He worried about meeting the previous Spider-Man’s on set.

“The date of the other Spider-Mans coming was etched on my calendar, and I was getting closer and closer and closer,” Holland told said. “And you know, the closer and closer I got, the more and more nervous I was.

However, Holland loved meeting Maguire and Garfield. He liked working with classic actors, like Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock.

“Then, as soon as I met you guys in Atlanta, I realized I had nothing to be nervous about,” Holland said.

However, Tom Holland admitted that he asked Zendaya and Jacob Batalon to come along as his support system.

The first meeting was so important to Tom Holland  that he asked Zendaya and Jacob Batalon to be his support system

While Holland’s screentests showed him clicking fast with co-stars like Chris Evans, he felt more pressure for Maguire and Garfield.

“At our first rehearsal, I had asked Jacob and Zendaya to come with me to just kind of be there as my support system,” Holland said.

He remembered asking them by saying, “‘I’m gonna go meet these guys. I’m really nervous about it. We have to read this scene, and I don’t know how this is gonna go because we’re all playing the same character, and we all have to bring our own kind of heart and soul into this. It means a lot to them and a lot to me.”

The Spider-Man: No Way Home trio left to meet with Garfield and Maguire.

And all three Spider-Men met for the first time while wearing their suits from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man movies.

Tom Holland described the ‘most bizarre’ experience at the meeting, but Zendaya and Jacob Batalon stayed as his support system

It only seems natural that Marvel wanted to capture the first time Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire met.

“So Jacob and Zendaya were there on that first day, but I think it was really strange and a little unfair how they had use put the suits on, and then just jump around in front of the camera together, like that was one of the most bizarre experiences of my life,” Holland admitted.

Garfield, who was also in the interview with Maguire and Holland, laughed, recalling the event. The Amazing Spider-Man has not been shy about how highly he thought of his co-stars and playing Peter Parker.

“Again, Jacob and Zendaya were there for that to support me,” Holland said. “But it was an amazing experience. From day one, it was a roller coaster that I didn’t want to get off.”

With rumors of Batalon and Zendaya not returning for the next Spider-Man trilogy, some fans hope the gossip proves false. Peter Parker needs his web to fall back on, just like Tom Holland needed Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as his support system.
