Spy x Family premiered on April 9, and the show accumulated positive reactions from its very first episode. Naturally, fans are hoping to spend a lot more time with the Forger family. And it looks like they’ll have plenty of content to look forward to before season 1 comes to a close.

The anime’s official website has unveiled the DVD and Blu-ray details for the first season, confirming that there will be 25 episodes to start. They’ll be broken up into a total of six digital releases. And despite leaving plenty to look forward to, there is a catch: season 1 will air in two separate parts.

The first season of ‘Spy x Family’ will be broken into 2 cours

Although 25 episodes are listed for Spy x Family Season 1, they won’t all arrive at once. Per the anime’s Jump Festa panel, the first outing will be broken into two separate cours. The first will air during the spring 2022 anime season and looks to contain 12 episodes. The release date for the second cour has yet to be confirmed. However, many are expecting it in the fall or winter.

This setup isn’t uncommon for anime, with shows like The Case Study of Vanitas and Attack on Titan adopting this release model in the past. Sadly, it does mean a wait between the two batches of episodes. On the bright side, that will give fans time to dive into the source material.

With any luck, it’ll also allow Wit Studio and CloverWorks to begin thinking about season 2. Although it’s not confirmed, the anime seems poised to continue — assuming it does well as its first run continues, that is.

It’s probably premature to start thinking about Spy x Family Season 2, but Tatsuya Endo’s manga gives us hope that the anime will receive more episodes in the future.

The source material remains ongoing, with Chapter 62.1 recently coming out. And there’s still plenty for the Forger family to resolve, meaning the manga doesn’t appear to be ending any time soon. With that in mind, 25 episodes will hardly capture the entirety of this story. If the anime adaptation does well, it’s likely it will continue.

Fans will need to wait and see if another outing is in the cards for this series. With its positive response and exciting premise, we certainly hope it keeps growing.

Spy x Family is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
