Since the global fame of the K-drama, many fans wanted to see more after the shocking cliffhanger. Director Hwang has teased fans about what could happen storyline-wise in Squid Game Season 2 as Seong Gi-hun and Front Man will make their return.
‘Squid Game’ Season 2 will bring back surviving characters and a newbie
For fans who have been diligently keeping an eye on updates for Squid Game Season 2, the official announcement by Hwang and Netflix has no new information. According to Variety, Hwang’s letter to fans confirms that Gi-hun and Front Man will be the focal point of the new season. But he also teases, “The man in the suit with ddakji might be back.” Hwang is referring to the Salesman played by notable actor Gong Yoo.
The only new information from the letter was the reveal that fans will get to meet Young-hee’s boyfriend. Who is Young-hee? She is the animatronic robot doll that kills players if they fail during “Red Light, Green Light.” This time, fans will meet her boyfriend, Cheol-su.
With the announcement came a very subtle teaser of a close-up of a robotic doll’s eyes blinking red. In the center is the number two. Fans can assume the doll is Cheol-su. But news of Squid Game Season 2 has fans theorizing its storyline based on everything revealed.
Fans believe ‘Squid Game’ Season 2’s storyline will have multiple plots
Hwang has revealed many details of what he is creating for the second season. Since the global response and the impact value it has given Netflix, Hwang had no choice but to develop a new season. The director has no initial set plans for a new storyline. But over time, he confirmed Gi-hun would return as the main character, but on a new adventure.
Hwang also confirmed Front Man would make his return after revealing his true identity in the K-drama. He has also previously announced the storyline for Squid Game Season 2 will involve Gi-hun diving into the truth of the Games creators. But fans on Reddit have their ideas of how the season will play out.
