Following the success of her Grammy Award-winning country-pop album Golden Hour, Musgraves debuted the 2021 release Star-Crossed. This came with singles “Justified” and “Star-Crossed,” as well as a visual album released exclusively on

“I just had this vision of, like, telling the story of a modern romance gone wrong,” Musgraves said during an interview with The Current. “A tragedy, if you will, set to modern rhythms and having some modern textures in there too.”

“The synth, and the keys and a lot of that kind of stuff, but then like having it stay really warm with like the classical guitar, the acoustics, some steel, some of those elements too,” she continued. “So it’s really just this big, like, patchwork quilt, but I feel like it really represents me and what I’m into. It’s all over the place.”

The film version of Star-Crossed included several celebrity cameos, including one from Haunting of Hill House actor Pedretti.

Kacey Musgraves featured Victoria Pedretti in the ‘Simple Times’ music video

Outside of her work on Netflix’s You and The Haunting of Bly Manor, Pedretti acted in the Paramount+ original Star-Crossed film, walking alongside Musgraves for the song “Simple Times.”

In the Paramount+ production, the two appear in a stylish friend group. Together, they took a trip to the mall and raided a bridal store. Even outside of working together, the celebrities have a shared admiration for one another.

“Kacey reached out to me, and I literally threw my phone across the room,” Pedretti said during an interview with Elle

With Petretti remaining a private person with regards to social media, it’s unclear if these artists ever met before Pedretti’s Star-Crossed cameo. Musgraves often showcases her celebrity friendships with her music

That’s especially true of her holiday album, with featured the original song “Glitter” with Troye Sivan. Following their RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 4 win, Trinity the Tuck and Monét X Change danced on stage to “High Horse.” Musgraves also performed “You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain live with Harry Styles.

Victoria Pedretti isn’t the only celebrity who had a cameo in Musgraves’ ‘Star-Crossed’

Alongside Pedretti and Musgraves, two other celebrities appeared in the “Simple Times” video. That includes rapper Princess Nokia and the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13, named Symone.

“Told y’all things were coming,” Symone tweeted in August 2021 following her appearance in the teaser. Other celebrities appeared throughout the Star-Crossed production, including Schitt’s Creek star Eugene Levy.

The Star-Crossed film is available for streaming exclusively on Paramount+.
