The Princess and the Frog is Disney’s 49th animated feature film, based on E.D. Baker’s novel The Frog Princess. Ron Clements and Jon Musker, who had directed animated movies for Disney before, co-directed The Princess and the Frog. Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, and other well-known actors voice the characters.

This film feels like a classic fairytale, but it plays out as a purely American adventure. The action takes place in New Orleans in 1912. Unlike most other Disney princesses, Tiana is not royalty by birth. Instead, she is a chef working her way toward owning a restaurant. She vows never to kiss a frog after hearing the fairytale, but Tiana soon learns that love can lead one’s life in a different direction.
