‘The Rise of Skywalker’ premiered in theaters during December 2019

Rey, Finn, and Poe are back to face the First Order. This movie is not just the end of the sequel trilogy, it’s the end of the Skywalker Saga. Although The Rise of Skywalker initially received poor reviews from critics, fans shared their thoughts online. Some were positive, but of course, there are things people would change.

“The thing in The Rise Of Skywalker I couldn’t handle was when they’re all underground and C-3PO asks if its the afterlife and if droids are allowed there why would you make that a throwaway line in your film that shook me to my core I’m having a…  philosophical crisis over here about robots,” one Twitter user wrote.

Some viewers of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ are surprised at Rose’s character arch

Last time fans saw Rose Tico, she was saving Finn from facing the First Order. Although this character received some hate during The Last Jedi, Kelly Marie Tran reprised her role as this final movie in the sequel trilogy. However, this character’s part in this feature film was considerably small.

“I think that of all the sequel trilogy characters, Rose Tico deserves a second life on Disney+. The Last Jedi did so much good with her character that a subset of fans raged about, so The Rise of Skywalker, in response, kept her from contributing at all,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

Some ‘Star Wars’ fans weren’t ready for the death of some characters

This Star Wars movie held plenty of twists and turns. There was a spy, there was Babu Frik, there was a festival complete with bright colors and delectable sweets. However, some of the deaths during The Rise of Skywalker surprised viewers.

“Hux’s real fate in The Rise of Skywalker: Hux sits up on the pile of dead bodies in the garbage, opens his jacket, and examines his blaster-proof vest,” one Twitter user wrote. “Hux: (sneering) ‘Fools. They think someone who plans assassinations 24/7 wouldn’t be prepared?’”

Even though Ben Solo overcame his dark side, fans were shocked when this character died in the final movie of this sequel trilogy. On Twitter, some suggested that Ben Solo should’ve lived following his redemption.

“I’m still angry/upset over the decision to kill Ben Solo, but as time passes I just get more confused,” said one Twitter user. “He was the link to all three of the main OT characters [and] arguably the most popular character, yet they just kill him at the end of the RISE of Skywalker for no real plot impact?”

“Kylo Ren was evil and deserved to die, but Ben Solo’s death served no one. For once, a character who had done evil and was redeemed had a chance to live and give us a hopeful ending, instead we got something that was the opposite,” they continued.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now playing in theaters.
