Since taking over the Star Wars series, Disney has made sure there hasn’t been any shortage of spin-offs, movies, and TV shows making their way to fans the past couple of years. In fact, there have been 12 films, three spin-offs, and at least seven original Star Wars TV series on Disney Plus since the company took over — with many more in the making.

Despite their ability to pump out a significant amount of Star Wars content considerably fast, fans are still hungry for more. More specifically, fans want more of Rey and content around her big secret of being a Palpatine descendant

Rey is the hero of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and its sequels

Rey Skywalker is a Master Jedi beyond her years who fought alongside the private military force called the Resistance in defense of the New Republic and against the First Order.

Her journey began in The Force Awakens when she saved BB-8 from some thugs and reluctantly let him follow along — setting her on the path that would lead to the force awakening within her. With this awakening came a need for training, which leads to the incredible scenes where Luke Skywalker puts Rey to the test and helps her master The Force within her.

This doesn’t come without difficulty, as Rey regularly fights with the growing temptation of the Dark Side that lies deeper within her than she ever anticipated.

All who know she is a Palpatine descendant are dead

First and foremost, the Palpatine family line refers to the descendants of the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious (a.k.a. Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine), who is among the most powerful Sith Lords.

He’s known best for bringing an end to the reign of the Republic and ruling the empire until his “death” at the Battle of Endor. More recently, fans have also come to know him as the grandfather of none other than Rey — the heir to his throne had she chosen to take it.

A revelation that is only known by dead characters like Ben, Kylo, Luke, Leia, and The Emperor himself.

In fact, Kylo Ren is the one who tells Rey she’s the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine in 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The leading lady asked why Empower Palpatine came for her and got an unexpected answer in response.

“You don’t just have power,” Kylo Ren tells her. “You have his power. You’re his granddaughter. You are a Palpatine. My mother was the daughter of Vader and your father, the son of the Emperor.”

Fans want that story told in future ‘Star Wars’ content

With that being said, fans are ready for more, bouncing around ideas like Rey conflicting between “who she has chosen to be vs. who she fears she still might be” and the consequences of others finding out “the new Jedi Order is the granddaughter of Sidious,” much like Leia’s story but “WAY more catastrophic.”

The Reddit poster adds, “I’m imagining a growing Jedi Order. Things are going good. Rey is in charge [when] some sort of conflict breaks out among the Jedi,” with the leader of opposition knowing her secret and using it to tear the Jedi apart. “Neither side is the ‘bad guy.’ We know Rey is good, despite her lineage, and the opposition isn’t bad either, they have a pretty legitimate reason for concern.”

The idea is intriguing, and plenty of fans are down for the spin-off for the sake of more Rey and Star Wars. However, it should also be noted that a similar situation arose with Luke and Leia, the descendants of Darth Vader (same struggles, except they weren’t grandkids but direct offspring). This could be problematic because it may mirror the original series too closely, making it too repetitive. What do you think about a Rey spinoff?
