Stevie Nicks was having an affair with Mick Fleetwood

Nicks and Fleetwood began an affair while both were in other relationships. At the time, Nicks was dating Don Henley of the Eagles, and Fleetwood was married to Jenny Boyd.

“Eventually I fell in love with her and it was chaotic, it was on the road and it was a crazy love affair that went on longer than any of us really remember — probably several years by the end of it,” Fleetwood wrote in his book Play On.

Though they were in love, Nicks believes the relationship was a mistake because of all the people it hurt.

“Mick and I would never have had an affair had we not had a party and all been completely drunk and messed up and coked out, and, you know, ended up being the last two people at the party,” she said for Oprah’s Master Class. “So guess what? It’s not hard to figure out what happened — and what happened wasn’t a good thing. It was doomed. It was a doomed thing, caused a lot of pain for everybody, led to nothing.”

She got into a fight after committing a wedding faux pas

While they were still together, both attended the wedding of John McVie, their Fleetwood Mac bandmate. Here, Nicks shocked guests by arriving in a long white dress. According to the book Stevie Nicks: Visions, Dreams, and Rumours, Rolling Stone described her as a “vision in white.”

Later in the event, Nicks got into a fight, though it wasn’t with the angry bride. Instead, she argued with Jenny Boyd, Fleetwood’s wife, in a walk-in closet. She had been aware of the affair but snapped at the wedding. Apparently, seeing Nicks in the white dress was “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Lindsey Buckingham’s then-girlfriend Carol Ann Harris reflected on the moment in the book Storms: My Life with Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac.

“Jenny was screaming ‘How could you?’ as Stevie, looking more than a little embarrassed and defensive, did her best to talk herself out of a corner.”

As the fight escalated, Harris rushed to get Robin Snyder, Nicks’ best friend. She was able to extricate Nicks from the situation before the fight could impact the wedding reception.

Jenny Boyd says she forgave Stevie Nicks

Years later, Boyd, now divorced from Fleetwood, says she forgives Nicks. She’s formed a friendship with Fleetwood and has moved past the drama with Nicks.

“A few years ago, when the band were playing the O2 Arena, she wanted to see me,” Boyd told The Guardian. “She apologized. I told her I had forgiven her years ago, but I really appreciate that.”

Following her split from Fleetwood, Boyd got a degree in psychology and began working in an addiction treatment center. She thinks of the members of Fleetwood Mac with warmth.

“I saw Fleetwood Mac in Paris recently,” she said. “Standing on the side of the stage, I thought, ‘God, I love these guys.’ We’ve all been through so much together, over so many years. A love will always be there for just that reason.”
