Steve Harrington ran into some trouble in the Upside Down in ‘Stranger Things’ 4

For the first had of the fourth season, the main characters were split between Hawkins and California. Steve, Nancy, Robin, Dustin, Max, and Lucas are the ones who realize the big evil is Vecna. With the help of metalhead Eddie Munson, they look for clues on how Vecna works.

They soon realize there is a smaller gate in town and find it at the bottom of the lake. Eddie, Nancy, and Robin go after Steve when a creature pulls him in from the gate. But in the Upside Down, Steve is attacked by Demobats. The others manage to rescue him, but fans fear the Demobats could have infected Steve.

Many fan theories suggest it is one of the key ways that Steve could die in Stranger Things 4 Volume 2. The trailer for the finale shows the characters in the Upside Down ready and armed to destroy Vecna. But a small shot of Dustin screaming in horror has fans worrying if he is yelling for Steve or Eddie.

The clues for Steve’s possible death in the final two episodes are strong. Fans are theorizing the Demobat bites have infected him or Steve dies a hero saving someone. There is a foreboding aura as the trailer also had Robin tell Steve she is worried they will not make it this time.

Steve started in Stranger Things as a disliked character but proved himself an ally with an impressive hero arc. The possibility of his death has fans praying it is not true. A fan on Twitter noticed a small detail in a new poster for the season. The poster shows the different characters in different locations.

In a corner, fans can see Steve, Nancy, Eddie, and Robin riding bikes in the Upside Down. Steve is seen still wearing Eddie’s DIO jean vest. But the fan theorizes the poster is a clue to Steve’s death in Stranger Things 4. All the of the bikes have their headlights on, expected for one. The one bike being Steve’s.

Fans fear the possibility as anything can happen in the finale. But another fan comments the theory is weak. In the season, when the same scene in the poster occurs, all the bike lights are off except for Eddie’s. Eddie is another character that fans fear will also meet his death during his guitar solo.

The Duffer brothers keep their lips sealed about who dies

Fans can speculate as many theories as possible, but the Duffer brothers reveal nothing. In an interview with TVLine, they address fans’ fear of Steve’s probable death in Stranger Things 4. “Everybody’s always worried about Steve. I love it,” said Matt Duffer.

His brother Ross Duffer adds, “We always have to beat Steve up somehow, so certainly the Demobats have done that job pretty well already this season. It feels wrong to say ‘excited,’ but I’m excited that people are concerned. And they should be concerned going into the final two episodes [of Season 4] — for everybody.”

The Duffer brothers also previously revealed that Steve was meant to die earlier in the series. One thing is for sure: fans will have to watch the finale of Stranger Things 4 with a tissue box.
