Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 premieres in precisely 91 days which means we have 91 days to speculate which characters live, who dies, and the ultimate couples in the series. Stranger Things Season 3 finally brought Mike and Eleven together, and the entire world cheered, but do we think they’re in it for the long haul? What about Lucas and Max? Will Steve Harrington ever find love? Here are the couples we think are endgame in the Stranger Things series.

One of the 'Stranger Things' couples, Mike and Eleven, seen here at the school dance, are definitely endgame.

Joyce and Hopper will make a perfect couple, eventually

The romantic feelings between Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce (Winona Ryder) popped up in Stranger Things Season 1, even if neither of the two acted on them. When we first see them together, Joyce begs him to find Will (Noah Schnapp). It’s clear the pair are old friends, but there was also a hint of something more. In season 2, Hopper seemed sad to watch Joyce date Bob Newby (Sean Astin,) but the Demodogs brought Bob’s time on earth to an end.

Just when we thought Joyce and Hopper would finally get that date at Enzos in Stranger Things Season 3, Hopper disappeared with Joyce thinking he died. However, once we learned Hopper was alive and well in Russia, our hopes for Joyce and him bloomed once again. We can’t imagine the creators actually killing him off now. This makes Joyce and Hopper fall into “endgame status.”

Things seem off with Lucas and Max in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4

The teaser trailers for Stranger Things Season 4 don’t give fans much to go on, but noticeably absent are any hints toward Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink) living happily ever after. While the pair seemingly explores the Creel House together, the Creel House poster released shows Lucas looking at Max while staring at something behind her.

The positioning of the couple on the poster mimics Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) from the Stranger Things Season 3 poster. Even though fans saw Eleven and Mike reunited by the end of season 3, we aren’t sure that’s what’s in store for Lucas and Max. Ultimately, we don’t see this ‘ship lasting in Stranger Things Season 4.

Mike and Eleven are the ultimate ‘Stranger Things’ endgame couple

If you looked up the definition of “endgame” in the dictionary, you’d probably find a photo of the Avengers. Still, right behind that, you would definitely see a picture of Mike and Eleven together. The creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, hinted at Mike’s relationship with Eleven in their first pitch bible about the series.

Stranger Things Season 1 highlighted the painstaking awkwardness that comes along with a very first crush when Mike told Eleven he found her pretty. Season 2 saw a forlorn Mike pining away for Eleven while Hopper forced her to hide in his cabin. In Stranger Things Season 3, fans finally watched as the couple became official. Sure, we also saw the two break up, but what did Mike do during that time? He whined to his friends about missing his girlfriend. Thankfully, the two reunited by the end of the season.

Stranger Things Season 4 teasers show Mike and Eleven going strong, even though they live hundreds of miles away from each other. However, we know Mike makes his way to California to reunite with Eleven. Will might end up getting a little miffed at his best friend’s relationship sidelining his friendship with Mike, but we think he’ll come around. After all, he and Eleven are technically siblings now.

Out of all of the Stranger Things couples, these are the two we see lasting over the years. Thankfully, Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 premieres on May 27, 2022. In the meantime, we can rewatch the first three seasons of the series on repeat until the date arrives.
