R&B has been experiencing somewhat of a renaissance in recent years, with a crop of new crooners emerging in the late 2010s. Summer Walker burst onto the music scene with her debut album Over It in 2019. And now, after two years out of the spotlight, she’s ready to let other people know that she’s Still Over It.

Summer Walker released her debut album ‘Over It’ in 2019

Summer Walker was first introduced to many listeners through Grammy-winning superstar Drake. Her 2018 song “Girls Need Love” caught his eye, and he reached out and jumped on the remix for the song, which unsurprisingly blew up.

With a co-sign from Drake, Walker was able to get to work on her debut album. She worked with some of the best in the business for the album, including well-known producer London on da Track.

The album contained hit singles such as “Playing Games,” a collaboration with Bryson Tiller, and “Come Thru” with R&B icon Usher. Walker also worked with the likes of Jhené Aiko, PartyNextDoor, 6lack, and more for the project.

Walker announced in 2020 that she was pregnant with her first child with her on-and-off boyfriend, London on da Track. She gave birth in March 2021.

‘Still Over It’ will be released November 5, 2021

With the early days of motherhood behind her, Walker has spent most of 2021 focused on releasing her highly-anticipated second album. She released a teaser in October 2021 that confirmed it was coming on November 5, 2021.

The video unveiling the project featured Walker dressed as she was on the cover of Over It, talking on the phone with someone. While the title of the album and her expression made it seem like she was “over” talking to a man, the teaser revealed who she was really talking to: City Girls member JT.

In the video, JT is in prison while she talks to Walker on the payphone. They talk about how excited they are to work together once she gets out. JT was actually incarcerated from 2018 to 2020 as the City Girls began to rise to prominence, so Walker revealed that they had been in contact while she was locked up.

London on da Track produces most of Summer Walker’s music

Much of Walker’s debut album Over It was produced by London on da Track, who has worked with some of the biggest rappers and R&B singers in the industry throughout his career. They began dating on and off while working on the album, eventually having a child together.

It’s unclear if London on da Track will reprise his role as a frequent producer on Still Over It. But judging by Walker’s social media, they’re not on the best terms.

“I am the full caretaker of my child; that man pulls up on the weekend with his mama and his gifts for a day or 2, takes his pics, but I do all the work when I’m not at work,” she said in an Instagram story, calling him a “ghetto baby daddy from hell.”
