In its latest episodes, Superman & Lois hinted the villains this season will be sentient Kryptonians now inside human hosts. Knowing Zod is Superman’s most infamous Kryptonian foe, fans of The CW series can’t help but wonder if he’s the one secretly running the show, disguised as Morgan Edge.

Zod is one of Superman’s most formidable nemesis in the comic books

While Superman & Lois has yet to mention him, General Zod is a powerful supervillain in DC Comics. He is a Kryptonian general who knew Kal-El’s parents and was sentenced to serve time in the Phantom Zone for trying to take over Krypton. But upon his release, Zod comes down to Earth to conquer the planet, only to be thwarted by Superman.

Zod has appeared in several Superman comics, TV shows, and films over the years. In Smallville, Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) becomes a vessel for Zod and hosts his consciousness. And in Man of Steel, Zod (Michael Shannon) comes down to Earth with his own team of Kryptonians and tries to defeat Superman (Henry Cavill).

Morgan Edge might be resurrecting Kryptonians on ‘Superman & Lois’

The first few episodes of Superman & Lois made Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner) look like a shady businessman. But the past few installments have uncovered his true agenda. With the help of his soldiers, including Leslie Larr (Stacey Farber), Edge has been mining X-Kryptonite and using it to make more superhumans.

But with some digging, Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) believes that Edge isn’t just creating superpowered humans. She thinks he is using the rocks to transfer sentient Kryptonians into the bodies of unsuspecting humans.

Some ‘Superman & Lois’ fans think Morgan Edge could be Zod

With the revelation that Kryptonians may just be trying to conquer Earth, some Superman & Lois fans can’t help but wonder if Zod is behind the scheme. For starters, it would explain why Leslie Larr is so loyal to him.

If she is a Kryptonian, it doesn’t make sense that she’s obeying a human’s every command. But if Edge is Zod, it would explain why Leslie is working for him.

Some fans think Zod is using Edge’s body temporarily until he finds a more suitable host, like Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). “I believe Zod is camping out in Edge for the time being until they figure out how to stabilize the powers within the host,” one Reddit fan suggested. “Which is why I figure Zod wants Superman’s body.”

But others think Zod’s rise to power will come through Lana’s (Emmanuelle Chriqui) husband, Kyle (Erik Valdez).

“I think [Kyle is] going to become a vessel for a resurrected Zod,” one Redditor wrote. “If this does happen, I think it’d be better for it to be more nuanced and complex like Zod merging with Kyle and for him to take on both personalities — I also like this idea because Zod isn’t a black and white character, and I can see him struggling with Kyle’s love for his family.”

Hopefully, as the season continues, fans will get a clearer picture of Edge and what his true motivations are. New episodes of Superman & Lois air Tuesdays on The CW.
