Sydney Sweeney is one to watch. Since 2018, she’s been working on projects nonstop. In the past 5 years alone, she’s landed roles on TV shows like Sharp Objects, The Handmaid’s Tale, The White Lotus, and Euphoria. She even started her own production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, so she can bring more female-led stories to life. First on her docket is her upcoming HBO series, The Players Table. And throughout all of this, Sweeney has also been balancing school and working toward a college degree.

Sydney Sweeney is currently earning a college degree at UCLA

In between filming projects, Sweeney is studying entrepreneurship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In fact, there was a time when Sweeney was filming and earning her college degree concurrently. However, her schedule (and Euphoria in particular) was too grueling to handle simultaneously. Still, the Washington native doesn’t have many more classes to get through before she earns her Bachelor’s degree. And she might not stop there.

The ‘National Anthem’ star admits to being infatuated with learning

Sweeney has been candid about the fact that acting is far from her only passion. She also loves school and has considered getting a law degree in the future. This love of learning seems to be a product of both nature and nurture. In an interview with Vogue, Sweeney revealed that a love of learning runs in her family.

“I thank my parents for drilling [the importance of education] into my mind then, and now,” Sweeney shared. “At first, I was doing school for them. And now I look at it as I’m doing school for myself. I think that education, in any career that you choose, is always important because you can never learn too much. There’s never a limit on how much you can learn. I’ve always been infatuated with school; I loved math. I used to actually think I was going to go to college and be a mathematician.”

Sweeney feels her educational background helps her carry herself differently

Considering Sweeney’s parents are highly educated, it’s no wonder that she takes college, and school in general, so seriously. The Voyeurs actor was even the valedictorian of her high school class. Sweeney is very proud of her educational background. In fact, she thinks that it has impacted the way she carries herself within the entertainment industry and outside of it.

“I mean my mom is a lawyer, and my dad was in the medical field, so I came from a very educated family,” Sweeney shared. “I’m so thankful for that because I think that has been able to help me carry myself in a different way. Like, I can walk into the room with grown men and women and handle myself differently than I think I would have if I didn’t have a strong educational background.”

It’ll certainly be interesting to see if Sweeney continues her formal education journey post-college. But, considering how many projects she has lined up, we’re wondering when she’ll find the time.
