Nearly two months after Fearless (Taylor’s Version) debuted, Taylor Swift fans continue to theorize which of her re-recorded albums is coming next. On June 3, 2021, the artist herself posted something that set off alarm bells in the heads of some of her sharpest Swifties. Discover what they figured out.

Taylor Swift released ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ in April 2021

In April 2021, Swift released her third album in less than a year. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) debuted, featuring all of the songs from the original version of her second studio album, plus several more. “I hope you’ll like this first outing as much as I liked traveling back in time to recreate it,” the artist tweeted.

So why release the same album more than a decade later? As Swifties (and much of the internet) know, the artist made public her fight to regain control of her master recordings in 2019. She called out Scooter Braun, a music manager who purchased her masters via her former record label, Big Machine Recordings, refusing to sell them back to her when she offered to pay any price.

“Artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most screamingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really *knows* that body of work,” Swift continued. Fearless was her first Grammy-winning album, her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and cemented her as a country artist, making it a defining record for her.

Her fans think they’ve figured out which albums are next

Since Fearless (Taylor’s Version) dropped, Swifties have worked to figure out what she’ll release next. Rumors indicate another album could arrive shortly, with as many as three more in 2021. And as Swifties are wont to do, they’ve used the singer’s social media posts to try and deduce when each re-record arrives.

When Swift posted about her Evermore vinyl breaking records, some turned to the wording in her message. But one Twitter fan pointed to the colors the singer used to sign her name in the four images she shared. “WAIT! What if she is giving us the order of next releases?!?” they wrote.

The first signature is gold, the color of the Fearless (Taylor’s Version) artwork. Second is silver, which could align with Swift’s fifth album (and second Album of the Year winner), 1989. The third appears to be a pale purple, and purple was the color of the artist’s third studio album, Speak Now. Finally, the last signature is in red, clearly indicating the album she named for the color.

Did Taylor Swift Ever Confirm Who ‘Hey Stephen’ Is Really About?

Swifties didn’t just arrive at this recent theory out of nowhere. The artist has planted her infamous Easter eggs in other social media posts since Fearless (Taylor’s Version) dropped. Additionally, she laid out a few clues in an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

When the host asked Swift about the inspiration for her Fearless track “Hey Stephen,” she pulled out a mood board filled with photos of him. Though their exchange centers around this element, Swifties looked closer at the board, identifying its New York City theme as a possible sign that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way.
