‘Ted Lasso’: Rebecca Welton’s Hannah Waddingham Explains Why Fans Aren’t Seeing Her Eat Many Biscuits in Season 2

Those biscuits Hannah Waddingham's Rebecca Welton is obsessed with still make appearances in 'Ted Lasso' Season 2 but the actor doesn't have to eat as many. "There was often no need for me to have biscuits at all, or at least it wasn’t written in, but every time I’m in my office, there’s some," she said.

Ted Lasso Season 2 is well underway and while there have been changes at AFC Richmond some things are still the same. The soccer team’s still losing matches and owner Rebecca Welton is still obsessed with Ted Lasso’s (Jason Sudeikis) homemade biscuits. But why is Rebecca not seen eating them as often as she did in season 1? Actor Hannah Waddingham has the answer.

When Ted arrived in England Rebecca didn’t want anything to do with him. She turned down his request for “Biscuits with the Boss.” But there was a catch. She loved the biscuits Ted brought to her office in a small pink box.

Despite Rebecca refusing “Biscuits with the Boss” Ted continued to bring her biscuits. Once again, she got him out of her office as quickly as possible but not without immediately taking a bite of one of the biscuits. She even asked Ted where he got them. By the end of season 1, Rebecca (and viewers) knew Ted had been making the biscuits at home and bringing them to work.

Hannah Waddingham says the biscuits are always in Rebecca’s office but filming ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 2 didn’t require eating a lot of them

In season 2 Rebecca’s no longer trying to sabotage Richmond but her love for Ted’s biscuits is still strong. So why isn’t she often seen eating them in her office like in season 1?

Waddingham, who Ted Lasso viewers might recognize from Game of Thrones, told TV Insider in July 2021 the biscuits are still in Rebecca’s office she’s just not eating them on camera.

“There was often no need for me to have biscuits at all, or at least it wasn’t written in, but every time I’m in my office, there’s some,” Waddingham said. “And I like the fact that it looks like Ted’s already visited the room that morning, it’s just a constant, it’s her emotional crutch, especially when it comes to guys.”

So that’s why Rebecca’s got the pink box on her desk or next to the couch she and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) sit on during what Ted calls “girl talk.” Based on Waddingham’s comments, expect to see a box of biscuits whenever Rebecca talks about her life.

Rebecca is a major fan of Ted’s biscuits but not Waddingham. The actor told Awards Daily in January 2021 that the soccer coach’s biscuits don’t taste good.

“You have no idea how bland they are,” she said. “Oh my god. Honestly. It’s the greatest acting job of my life. So many people have said, ‘Those biscuits look so good,’ and I go, ‘Do they?’”

Watch Ted Lasso Season 2 on AppleTV+ and look out for a pink biscuit box in Rebecca’s office. A new episode — there are 12 episodes this season — drops every Friday at 12 a.m. CT or 3 a.m. EST on the streamer.
