Chelsea Houska spent more than a decade on MTV’s flagship reality TV franchise, Teen Mom. She stepped away from the series in 2020, citing a desire for more privacy. Houska didn’t leave the TV world for good, though. The mother of four and her husband, Cole DeBoer, will premiere a new show on HGTV next year. According to Deadline, the show’s inaugural season will include six hour-long episodes. According to the publication, Houska’s father, Randy Houska, will also appear on the show. Randy was a fan favorite on Teen Mom 2. The show is set to premiere sometime next spring.

‘Teen Mom’ fans are criticizing Houska for signing up for another reality TV show

While some of Chelsea Houska’s fans are excited to catch up with her on a brand new reality TV show, not everyone is thrilled with the big news. Several fans have called Houska a “liar” and a “hypocrite.” Houska’s critics point out that she walked away from one reality TV show, citing a need for privacy but has quickly decided to return to TV.

One Reddit user argues that the concept for the series is “lame.” Other users are questioning why Houska and DeBoer landed the series. They note that the couple has little experience renovating homes aside from their own home project.

Chelsea Houska laid out her reasons for quitting ‘Teen Mom 2’

Chelsea Houska initially told fans that she stepped away from Teen Mom for more privacy. That was, apparently, a pretty watered-down explanation. In 2021, Houska sat down with E! News and explained why she walked away from the series.

The mother of four said several factors led to the decision, but she ultimately decided to protect her eldest child and their relationship. She said, “When she was little, the stuff that was going on with her dad and stuff, it was from my point of view, and as she got older, it started coming from her point of view.” Houska went on to say that she wants Aubree to have that part of her life private. She also said she wanted Aubree to have the right to private conversations with her as she became a teen. Aubree turned 12 in September 2021.

Houska’s eldest child, Aubree, was born on an episode of 16 and Pregnant. Houska’s troubled relationship with Aubree’s biological father, Adam Lind, was heavily featured in the early seasons of Teen Mom 2. Subsequent seasons focused on the strained relationship between Lind, Houska, and Aubree. Houska went on to marry Cole DeBoer in 2016. They have three additional children.

There is no word on whether the kids will appear on Chelsea Houska’s HGTV series. It is unlikely they’ll be heavily featured if they do show up on camera.
