DeAngelo Williams before ‘The Amazing Race 32’

Originally from Wynne, Arkansas, top running back and track and field star DeAngelo Williams attended the University of Memphis, where he started on the football team as a true freshman.

Williams had a great college career and finished seventh overall in the 2005 Heisman Trophy voting. He also broke the Division 1 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) record for the most 100-yard rushing games and all-purpose yards, which he still holds.

In 2006, the Carolina Panthers drafted the running back in the first round, 27th overall, and he adopted #34, the same number as his then-hero, Ricky Williams.

The running back became the starter two years later and broke several franchise records, including most rushing yards and most total touchdowns in a season. He went on to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2015 – 2016 before retiring from football in 2018.

Gary Barnidge before ‘The Amazing Race 32’

Born in Kentucky before relocating to Florida, tight end Gary Barnidge played college football at the University of Louisville. The Panthers drafted him in 2008 in the fifth round, 141st overall, where he initially played on special teams. In 2010, he led the team in tackles before missing the following season with a broken ankle.

Three years later, Barnidge joined the Cleveland Browns and enjoyed a breakout year in 2015, where he tied a franchise record, was voted the best player on the team, and made Pro Bowl as an alternate. The Browns released the tight end two seasons later.

Barnidge played alongside Williams for the tight end’s five-year career as a Carolina Panther, and they became close friends. In 2017, the two appeared on an Impact Wrestling episode before Williams decided to become a professional wrestler. He made his debut alongside Barnidge and announced his retirement three days later.

The running back has since expressed his interest in returning to pro wrestling before competing on The Amazing Race 32 with the former tight end. The team is doing well so far and has placed in the top for the first two legs.

Does Williams or Barnidge have a higher net worth?

Barnidge’s impressive performance during the 2015 season earned him a 3-year extension worth around $12 million. However, the Browns released him a year before the contract expired. His exact net worth is unavailable; but, he has made nearly $11.5 million over his nine-year career.
