How did ‘The Bachelor’ Ben Higgins meet Jessica Clarke?

Higgins’ time on The Bachelor did not lead to lasting love — although he did try three times. Instead, he met his fiance, Clarke, by sliding into her Instagram DMs in late 2018. The couple went official with their relationship in February 2019.

The two were engaged on March 27, 2020, during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Higgins planned to propose in Central Park in New York City; however, the shutdown changed those plans. Instead, he popped the question in Clarke’s parents’ backyard by a beautiful pond.

“I don’t remember everything you said, but I know that I said yes,” Clarke wrote on Instagram the next day. “I woke up in a dream today, and I get to live in this dream every day from now on.”

Since the engagement, the couple continually melts fans’ hearts with their photos and videos. It seems like a perfect love story.

How did Higgins spark break up rumors?

On March 15, 2020, Higgins posted a sweet photo of Clarke and himself on Instagram. However, the caption had fans very worried about the couple’s relationship.

“How quickly plans can change,” Higgins’ caption read. “Personally, I am sorry for all of you who have been affected by the shutdown and have had to cancel or postpone your weddings after months and months of planning.”

Fans quickly began commenting on the post, worried the two were breaking up.

“I THOUGHT THIS WAS A BREAKUP POST, BENJAMIN,” one fan wrote. “Don’t start a caption like that!”

Higgins and Clarke are not breaking up

However, the introduction was related to the coronavirus impacting wedding plans, not the couple splitting up. Higgins is partnering with Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry to marry couples online who had to postpone their wedding due to COVID-19.

“Scary post,” another fan added. “You tricked us deliberately?”

While it does not look like Higgins meant to spark break up rumors, fans feel strongly about the wording. They are grateful that the couple is not calling it quits.
