Matt James on ‘The Bachelor’

Matt opened his season of The Bachelor with a lengthy prayer to show the women that his religion was important to him. Since then, he has been going out of his way to save damsels in distress, like Sarah Trott when she almost fainted. Last week, he put his foot down and sent Anna Redman and Victoria Larson home for bullying the other women. Multiple times throughout the episode, he expressed the need to make the resort a “safe space” for the women.

“Any type of name-calling people try to pass off as playing around, but it’s not playing around to the people on the receiving end of it,” Matt shared on Good Morning America. “When that was made aware to me, I had to act on it.

“This opportunity doesn’t really allow for second chances,” he continued. “You’re on a crunch of time, and when I see that my connection with you is starting to whither, and when I see signs that are not what I’m looking for with my wife at that time, then I’ve got to act on it and focus my energy and efforts on the women who I’m forming the strong connections with.”

Going by what we’ve seen on the show, it would appear that Matt is totally against bullying and all about taking people’s feelings into consideration. But several stories have come out about the Bachelor recently that would suggest otherwise.

Matt James’ disrespected his former roommate

Before becoming a part of The Bachelor franchise, Matt lived in an apartment in NYC with a woman named Sophia. She recently went on the Stay At Home Pop podcast and revealed that living with Matt was awful.

“He’s the worst; I really didn’t like him,” she said. “Our apartment kind of became like this weird crash pad for guys from The Bachelorette guys of Tyler Cameron’s season. Whenever they would do Good Morning America or something, they would all crash there”

She also said that Matt would make copies of his apartment key and give them out to his Wake Forest football friends. When she told him that she felt uncomfortable with random men in their home, Sophia claims that Matt said , ‘I don’t care that you feel uncomfortable.”

Matt James’ friends made fun of Victoria Larson

In another instance of less than stellar behavior, a video surfaced of Matt’s friends making fun of contestant Victoria Larson’s body. In the video shared by Bachelornation.Scoop, one of Matt’s friends can be heard saying, “Now how was Victoria’s body? ‘Cause when I look at her, it doesn’t look very nice … and you’ve been making out with this woman.”

Matt did eventually apologize for his friend’s actions, saying that he needed to be more careful about who he hangs out with.

Despite his apology, there seems to be a lot of evidence stacking up against Matt and his “respectful” tv personality.
