The Real has a new co-host! In the aftermath of Amanda Seales and Tamera Mowry Housely’s exit, RHOBH star Garcelle Beauvais is joining the round table. Beauvais reportedly beat out several big names for the spot, including Keke Palmer. But the most surprising potential addition could have been The Bachelorette alum and practicing lawyer, Rachel Lindsay.

Garcelle Beauvais announces her role as the new co-host of ‘The Real’

Word of Beauvais as the new co-host began on the evening of August 24 as more media outlets began reporting on her landing the open spot. The veteran actor reveals her excitement in an exclusive statement to Variety, telling the publication:

“I am thrilled to be joining the dynamic, bold and diverse women on the award-winning talk show ‘The Real,’” Beauvais said. “My love for pop culture and news, blended with my natural gift of gab, has always made me gravitate toward a talk show environment. It’s also exciting that it’s happening right after my amazing time joining ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.’”

She’s been a guest on the daytime talk show previously. This isn’t the first time Beauvais will work as a talk show host for FOX. She previously co-hosted the syndicated entertainment show Hollywood Today Live.

Longtime co-host Loni Love is sharing her support for Beauvais. “Welcome to the family @GarcelleB,” she writes in a new Tweet. “I got my wigs, we got a new cohost, I just need to check my WiFi then we got a Season Seven,” she jokes.

Apparently, many others besides Beauvais was considered for the coveted spot. According to E! News, Lindsay’s appearance on the show was a hit with viewers, making her a strong contender.

Prior to Beauvais’ announcement, a source close to production told E! News, “Rachel is being looked at as a great option for the show. Everyone really enjoyed having Rachel on as a guest host for a week and she showed great potential. She has a great voice and offers a unique perspective in comparison to the other panelists.”

Lindsay has hosting experience, with appearances on ESPN’s First Take and the ESPN radio show Football Frenzy. She also hosts her own podcast Higher Learning with Van Lathan, which is available for streaming on Apple and Spotify.

Several other major names were also reportedly considered for a co-hosting spot

There are said to be other Hollywood hopefuls who were eager for their shot as talk show host. Among them are actors Tisha Campbell, Tichina Arnold, and Yvette Nicole Brown, according to E! News. All three women co-hosted or had multiple appearances on the show.

Another Bravo housewife was also reportedly in talks. RHOA OG Nene Leakes has been open about her desire for her own talk show. Producers of The Real were reportedly in talks with the Georgia peach. 

With a potential fifth spot still open, it will be interesting to see if another famous face rounds out the table fully. 

The Real is returning for season seven virtually on September 21.
