Matt Reeves drops ‘The Batman’ theme reveal on Twitter

The Batman is one of the most anticipated films of 2022. And to keep fans satiated, director Matt Reeves has been dropping exciting breadcrumbs. But his latest reveal, the film’s theme music, feels far more telling than the photos and teasers.

Fans got a small taste of the theme in The Batman trailer. But the full 6-minute, 48-second musical piece teases a broader picture of the hero’s journey.

It starts dark and quiet. And as the music builds, the tone begins to feel more hopeful, evoking images of the Caped Crusader’s rise. But the theme then takes on a melancholy, reflecting sadness, loss, and pain. And in the final minutes, the music turns vengeful and angry, signaling the vigilante’s thirst for revenge.

‘The Batman’ movie theme comes from Michael Giacchino

The theme music for The Batman comes from Grammy, Oscar, and Emmy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino. He’s known for creating epic soundtracks for blockbusters like Doctor Strange, the recent Spider-Man trilogy, and the Jurassic World films.

In a 2020 interview with Collider, Giacchino talked about his collaboration with Reeves. He revealed he was given total freedom and said he loved the fresh approach Reeves is taking with the movie.

“Matt always agreed, this is our Batman, this is our vision,” Giacchino said. “I do love it. I think what he’s doing is really cool, and it’s different, and it feels fresh. In the way that I get excited when I see a new graphic novel or a comic book coming out with a new take on it. It feels like that.”

After hearing the finished theme, the music producer also revealed how giddy he and Reeves were. And he suggested fans will hear more of the soundtrack when the movie drops.

“Matt and I love it, we watch it, we have a lot of fun with it, which makes us feel like kids again,” Giacchino added. “We recorded a bunch of other music as well for it, a bunch of themes and things that nobody has heard yet.”

The haunting melody is getting fans hyped for the movie

Fans are soaking in the marvelous music Giacchino has produced for The Batman. And it left some in full-on tears.

“Jesus Christ man, my eyes got teary. That was just beautiful!” one Reddit fan wrote.

“That whole first half has me in tears,” another Redditor added. “It’s so beautiful.”
