‘The Bold and the Beautiful’: Here’s How John McCook Really Felt About Eric Forrester and Brooke Logan’s Romance
John McCook is one of daytime television’s most-seasoned actors. For years, he has played the role of Eric Forrester on the CBS soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful. He has been in at least two major romances, one of them including his relationship with Brooke Logan.

McCook plays Forrester family patriarch Eric on The Bold and the Beautiful. The actor has played the role for over 30 years and has even appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful‘s sister soap, The Young and the Restless, from time to time.
Most of his storylines have revolved around his company, Forrester Creations, as well as his relationships with multiple women. His longtime wife was Stephanie Forrester, who passed away on the show a few years back. Another big relationship is his one with Brooke Logan, who was first married to his son Ridge Forrester and is considered the love of Ridge’s life.
Outside of Ridge (who was retconned to not be his biological son), Eric’s kids are Thorne Forrester, Rick Forrester, Marcus Forrester (who is adopted), r Kristen Forrester, Felicia Forrester and Bridget Forrester/

Earlier this year, because the show had to suspend filming due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the show aired older, throwback episodes. One of the episodes aired was Brooke and Eric’s 1991 wedding. McCook talked about the episode and revisiting the romance in an interview with TV Insider.
The actor was very happy that the show decided to show this episode as one of the throwback ones. ‘I’m really glad that they reached that far back,” he told the publication. “I thought they might not show any from the really early days. I’m glad. A lot of our fans have never seen that stuff and we also have fans to whom all that stuff is important. I remember thinking we were all so excited to be on the show and shoot on location. We didn’t know about Portofino [Italy where we’d later go] yet! But we loved going to Palm Springs and then going up in the hot air balloon. It was nice to see us have production values that were not known to daytime. It was a great story for Brooke and Eric.”
He also admitted that the Brooke and Eric relationship was actually a lot about the Stephanie and Brooke dynamic instead of Brooke and Eric.
“To start the show, they stayed with the young characters, which was good,” said the actor in part. “They were all young and beautiful and capable. But there was a huge amount of interest in the relationship with Eric and Stephanie – adult characters who were interesting based on their history. I was thrilled when they started to write Eric reaching out to this beautiful , young woman whom his son had stepped on. It only lasted as long as it did. I think Eric may have known all along Brooke would go back to Ridge…it was all about conflict with Stephanie. Everything was a challenge.”
