‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ star Jacqueline MacInnes Wood was intimidated working with Susan Flannery

With her character being part of the Forrester family, Wood’s worked with many of The Bold and the Beautiful’s stop stars. John McCook, Katherine Kelly Lang, Ronn Moss, and Hunter Tylo are a few of the actors Wood shared scenes with. As a newcomer, Wood was nervous about her new gig on the soap opera. Yet, there was one co-star Wood was intimidated by, and that’s Susan Flannery.

Flannery played Stephanie Forrester, Steffy’s grandmother, on the show. Flannery and her character are legends, and many consider them pivotal to the soap opera’s success. While many actors would jump at the chance to work with Flannery, Wood was apprehensive.

During a talk with Soap Opera Digest, Wood talked about her nervousness while filming with Flannery. “She had such a strong presence and was such a perfectionist with her craft. But that feeling didn’t last long. We connected quickly. Susan was a wonderful mentor. My character is, after all, her character’s namesake, so obviously, her favorite!”

Steffy Forrester was named after her grandmother

With a strong personality like Stephanie as her grandmother, Steffy had a lot of expectations to live up to. Stephanie was a doting grandma to Steffy and her siblings. However, Stephanie and Steffy had a unique bond.

Being her namesake, Steffy inherited many of her grandmother’s qualities. Steffy is a strong woman who’s not afraid to tell the truth. When Steffy gets riled up, she delivers a famous slap, much like Stephanie used to do. Yet, Steffy also has her flaws.

Steffy took a page out of Stephanie’s playbook during her younger days and manipulated others to get what she wanted. Steffy’s schemes backfire most of the time, leaving her in tears. While Steffy pretends to be a strong, independent woman, she also has emotional scars.

Steffy went through many heartaches, including her twin sister Phoebe Forrester’s (MacKenzie Mauzy) death. Yet, Steffy picks herself up and preservers through her trials and tribulations.

Carrying on Stephanie Forrester’s legacy

After 25 years, Flannery departed The Bold and the Beautiful in November 2012. Flannery’s exit also meant the end of Stephanie, who died from lung cancer. While Stephanie may be gone, she’s not forgotten, and her legacy lives on through Steffy.

Steffy has become a smark and successful businesswoman like her grandmother. As the Forrester Creations CEO, Steffy is in charge of making sure the fashion fits with the company’s vision. When Steffy isn’t dealing with business issues, she’s handling personal drama.
