‘The Bold and the Beautiful’: Scott Clifton Thought Liam Role Wouldn’t Last Long
The Bold and the Beautiful character Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) has a love and hate relationship with fans. Since 2010 Liam’s become a leading man and the focus of many storylines. The role has greatly recognized Clifton, who didn’t believe he’d be on the show for long.

Clifton has become widely recognized for his role as Liam on The Bold and the Beautiful. The actor’s 12-year run on the show won him many awards, including three Daytime Emmys. Before joining the CBS soap opera, Clifton portrayed Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital from 2003 to 2007.
After he departed from General Hospital, Clifton played Schuyler Joplin on One Life to Live. However, his role as Schuyler lasted only a year, with his final appearance coming in April 2010. Later that year, Clifton would get the role that made him famous. However, in a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Clifton admitted he didn’t think the Liam role would last long.
“When I was first cast, I thought maybe it’d be a year if I was lucky because I’d learned that lesson the hard way. I had just been fired from One Life to Live after a little more than a year. I’ve been on B&B for almost 12 years now, and I couldn’t be more grateful,” he explained.
Fans have a love/hate relationship with Liam Spencer
In July 2010, The Bold and the Beautiful fans were introduced to Liam. The young man comes to town after the death of his mother and begins a search for his biological father. Although Thorne Forrester (Winsor Harmon) is believed to be a possibility, Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) is Liam’s dad.
Liam and Bill form a bond, and he works for his dad at Spencer Publications. The Spencer family increases with Liam’s half-brother Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks). Although the brothers are close, they have battled over the same woman’s affections.
Most of Liam’s storylines revolved around the never-ending love triangle with him, Hope Logan (Annika Noelle), and Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). For over a decade, fans have watched Liam waffle back and forth between both women. Liam married and had children with Hope and Steffy, so he’ll always be connected to them.
Even when Liam’s with one lady, he can’t forget about the other. Liam is constantly toying with the emotions of Hope and Steffy, and his inability to make up his mind causes fans to turn against him. While the writers portray Liam as a hero, viewers believe his antics make him a villain.
What’s next for Liam Spencer?
The Bold and the Beautiful seems to have put an end to Liam’s romance drama. He’s currently married to Hope and shares custody of Kelly Spencer (Colette and Avalon Gray) with Steffy. Recently, Liam’s helped Hope try to reunite Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye).
Yet, Liam may have his drama to deal with soon. According to Soaps.com, Liam will receive advice from his dad on juggling two families. With Liam torn between his families with Hope and Steffy, the writers may be gearing up for another round in the love triangle.
With Steffy’s life in danger because of Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), this may reawaken his unresolved feelings for his ex-wife. Brooke may not be the only Logan without a man if that happens.
