Season one of The Boys is currently available on Amazon Prime Video. Season two will premiere on Amazon on September 4, 2020, and will consist of eight episodes.

The first three installments of season two will release on September 4, 2020, and the remaining five episodes will be released individually each week on Fridays. The Boys isn’t your typical superhero show but it is already a huge success and fans are eagerly awaiting the next binge-worthy season.

The premise of ‘the Boys’

The Boys is based on comic book series written by Garth Ennis. The comics were originally published between 2006 and 2012.

Most superhero comics and movies, including the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe, feature superheroes as the good guys. The mature series is full of blood splatters, violence, and dark humor.

The corrupt superheroes in the Boys are about as unchivalrous and arrogant as they can be. The superheroes are shady humans with superpowers and they are owned by Vought Industries. The comedic crime series packs the action as the Boys heads off against the Seven.

Season one showed the Boys, Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), attempting to take down the crooked superheroes. By the end of season one, the Boys are fugitives on the run pursued by the dangerous Seven. Homelander (Anthony Star) is the strongest member of the Seven.

Season two is set up to display even more action and insanity than the first season. The upcoming season will also bring in some new characters to the mix including Alistair Adana (Goran Visnjic), Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), and Stormfront (Aya Cash).

Season two will introduce Stormfront

While the original mature superhero comic heavily influences the Amazon adaptation, Amazon is producing the series with several distinctive elements. The character Stormfront delivers a noticeable difference between the comic version and the Amazon rendition.

Stormfront is a male character in the Boys comic. However, the Amazon Prime Video interpretation will feature a female Stormfront.

According to comicbook.com, showrunner Eric Kripke explained the reason the show will depict a female Stormfront, “We wanted to sort of create Homelander’s worst nightmare. And his worse nightmare would be a strong woman who wasn’t afraid of him and proceeded to steal his spotlight. I think that would hurt him way more than if it were a male character because he is a gaping hole of insecurity.”

The lightning-wielding superhero will immediately pose a colossal threat to Homelander and his ego.

Who is Aya Cash?

Cash portrays Stormfront in the upcoming season. According to Digital Spy, Cash revealed that her character is going to shake things up: “I think she’s here to blow up Vought. She’s here to try to get Vought back to the original idea behind creating superheroes.” Cash describes Stormfront as a powerful and emboldened feminist who intends to shake things up.

The 38-year-old is a seasoned actress who has been acting since 2006. Cash played Janine Lesko in Law & Order season 16, episode 20 in her first acting role.

More recently, Cash portrayed Gretchen Cutler on You’re the Worst from 2014-2019. Cash played in numerous TV shows and movies including Spellbound (2007), We are Men (2013), and the Wolf of Wall Street (2013).

In the trailer for season two, Cash’s electrifying Stormfront throws some shade towards Homelander, “My nana’s your biggest fan.” The new character is going to stir things up and add a whole new dynamic to the show. Season two is going to cause Homelander to come face to face with his insecurities. If season one is any indication of how season two will go, then it will be an action-packed hit.
