The fictionalized account of their deal sees them pitching Doctor Jay Rosan (Alan Ruck), who believes their technology will bring in profit.
Of course, Jay needs to convince the higher-ups at Walgreens, most of whom don’t trust Elizabeth. They even hire a lab consultant, Kevin Hunter (Rich Sommer), to inspect Theranos’ blood-testing machine. However, Elizabeth and Sunny find ways around Kevin’s interference, all while pushing the CEOs at Walgreens and CVS into considering a partnership.
Kevin remains suspicious of the pair, and he’s not the only one. The Dropout Episode 4 also follows Ian Gibbons (Stephen Fry) as he begins questioning Elizabeth’s actions. This nearly gets him fired, but his colleagues threaten to quit if Elizabeth and Sunny don’t bring him back. Ian eventually returns to the company, albeit in what looks to be a much smaller role than he held previously.
