The Dropout is tackling the creation and eventual downfall of Elizabeth Holmes’ biotech company, Theranos, and the Hulu series brings in some important players in episode 4. Among them is Kevin Hunter, who’s meant to look at Theranos’ blood-testing machine in the latest chapter of The Dropout. Actor Richard Olen Sommer II, or Rich Sommer, plays Kevin in the show. Where might fans know him from?

Kevin Hunter gets suspicious in ‘The Dropout’ Episode 4

The Dropout Episode 4 sees Elizabeth and Sunny (Naveen Andrews) pursuing a partnership with Walgreens, but many of the company’s executives are suspicious about their technology. The retailer’s CEO tasks a lab consultant named Kevin Hunter with investigating their machine. Unfortunately, he never gets the chance.

Knowing their technology won’t pass muster, Elizabeth and Sunny find a way around showing Kevin their product. Throughout The Dropout‘s fourth installment, Kevin Hunter is increasingly wary of Theranos. However, Elizabeth and Sunny convince Doctor Jay Rosan of their value — and he eventually appeals to the company’s CEO.

As all of this is unfolding, Rich Sommer’s character continues to ring alarm bells. It’s hard to ignore the actor’s presence — but where will viewers recognize him from?

Where you’ve seen Kevin Hunter actor Rich Sommer before

Rich Sommer does a solid job of showcasing Kevin Hunter’s hesitation about Theranos in The Dropout Episode 4. And it’s really no surprise that Sommer does his on-screen persona such justice. After all, the actor has plenty of experience delivering compelling performances on TV. Where else might fans recognize him from?

Two of Sommer’s most well-known projects are GLOW, where he portrays Mark Eagan, and Mad Men, where he plays Harry Crane. Sommer also played Dean Riley in In the Dark and Wayne Mackey in Summer 84. Those are just a few of the actor’s big roles, but he’s got quite an impressive resume.

Now Sommer can add The Dropout to his list of performances, but will Kevin Hunter show up again? Based on the real-life events that unfolded, it seems possible.

It’s unclear if Rich Sommer will appear in future episodes of The Dropout, but seeing Kevin Hunter again seems likely. IMDb doesn’t show his involvement in the series yet, so it’s hard to say how many chapters he’s in. However, Kevin is still trying to test Theranos’ product at the end of episode 4. Assuming Walgreens wants to see his results, he’ll have to keep pushing Elizabeth and Sunny.

Additionally, the real-life Kevin Hunter played a role in bringing the Theranos scandal to light. According to The Cinemaholic, he served as a source for John Carreyrou’s book exposing the company’s lies. The series could cover that development, or it could expand Kevin’s role in the story another way. Only time will tell what it decides to do with Sommer’s character.

In the meantime, fans can enjoy Sommer’s performance in the latest chapter of the series. The first four episodes of The Dropout are currently streaming on Hulu.
