Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie are heroes in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier follows Sam’s journey of accepting the shield that Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) gave to him at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Bucky also works to overcome his trauma and grief he feels after being the Winter Soldier for decades.

At the start of the series, Sam and Bucky are not close, as Steve was their best friend but they are not fans of each other. Throughout The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Bucky and Sam become closer and consider themselves to be friends.

In gaining each other as friends, the two also experience their own separate character growth. Bucky learns how to truly make amends and by the sixth episode, he is at peace with his past.

Meanwhile, Sam accepts that he is the right person to replace Steve as Captain America. In the finale, Sam and Bucky work together to stop the Flag Smashers’ attack on New York City.

At the end of the episode, the title card reads “Captain America and the Winter Soldier,” symbolizing that Sam accepted his role as Captain America and Bucky came to terms with his former self.

While it took a while for their characters to become close, Mackie and Stan are good friends and are always cracking up in interviews. For a special Q&A with IMDb, the two The Falcon and the Winter Soldier actors were asked what superpower they would want in real life.

“If we could have one superpower it would be teleportation,” Stan said.

“Teleportation,” Mackie agreed. “He stole my answer.”

Stan and Mackie then shared why they would want to be able to teleport if they could have a superpower.

“You can go and visit different places like in a day, come back, just like a great thing,” Stan said.

Mackie shared, “If you’re somewhere you don’t want to be, say like a date, you can just disappear and never see that person again.”

“I’m not going on a date with you, that’s for sure,” Stan joked.

“Anthony is not the better wingman in a bar, clearly. He leaves you hanging by yourself,” Stan joked.

Mackie agreed, saying, “I would have to say Sebastian is the better wingman because he’s so nice and so soft-spoken, like he makes you a better person when you’re at the bar.
