Actor Logan Williams, who portrayed a young Barry Allen on CW’s The Flash, has died at the age of 16. His mother, Marlyse Williams, did not release details about his death, but she did tell Tri-City News that her family is “absolutely devastated.”

Who was Logan Williams and what has he been in?

Logan Williams was a child actor who started his career at the age of 10 when he appeared in a Hallmark TV movie called The Color of Rain. A year later, he went on to star in the Lily Rabe and Milo Ventimiglia horror series, The Whispers.  

Around the same time, Williams joined the cast of the hit CW series, The Flash. For two seasons, the Vancouver native played a young version of Barry Allen. The older version of the character is portrayed by Grant Gustin. 

Williams was also featured on an episode of Supernatural. And he had the recurring role of Miles Montgomery on season 3 of When Calls the Heart opposite Lori Loughlin. 

Logan Williams’ mother shared the tragic news

On April 3, Logan Williams’ mother, Marlyse Williams shared the tragic news of her son’s passing with TriCity News. She did not reveal the cause of death, but mention that he died “suddenly.”

Williams told the outlet that due to current COVID-19 safety precautions and restrictions, her family is unable to grieve together. “I am not able to hug my parents who lost their only grandchild,” she said. “It’s hard.”

She also noted that the 16-year-old was just getting his career in Hollywood started. “With his talent and gorgeous looks, Logan had the potential to be a huge star,” Williams said.

‘The Flash’ cast reacts to Logan Williams death

In an Instagram post, The Flash actor Grant Gustin shared a picture of Williams from the set. In the caption, he offered his condolences to Williams’ family and talked about how talented the young actor was. 

“Just hearing the devastating news that Logan Williams has passed away suddenly,” Gustin captioned the 2014 photo. “I was so impressed by not only Logan’s talent but his professionalism on set. My thoughts and prayers will be with him and his family during what is I’m sure an unimaginably difficult time for them. Please keep Logan and his family in your thoughts and prayers during what has been a strange and trying time for us all. Sending love to everyone.”

John Wesley Shipp, the actor that plays Henry Allen and Jay Garrick on The Flash, tweeted out a heartfelt message for Williams on Twitter. “Heartsick to learn of Logan Williams’ death at 16,” he wrote in the tweet. “He was 100% committed to playing young Barry Allen, and we missed him once we moved past that part of the story. Love and compassion to Logan’s family and friends in your grief.”

Williams’ co-star from When Calls The Heart also shared a photo and message about the actor on Twitter. “My friend Logan Williams passed away yesterday,” actor Mitchell Kummen wrote in a tweet. “You were such a talent.  Sending love to your mom.”
