The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is affecting the lives of many people around the world. With social distancing now being the norm, most places have also implemented work-from-home policies. This means that folks everywhere are learning how to adapt their normal work routine to the things they currently have at home.

Kelly Ripa has been working from home as well, filming her show, Live with Kelly and Ryan, remotely instead of at studio in New York City. Without a hair and makeup team like before, she has also been taking on the job of getting herself TV-ready. Fortunately for fans, Ripa is quite open about some of the creative things she does to make herself look presentable on camera.

Kelly Ripa has been using her daughter’s beauty products

Back in April, Ripa revealed on an Instagram Live that, unfortunately, a lot of her clothes and makeup products were locked away at the studio. As such, she has been relying on the stuff her daughter has at home.

“I keep putting on my daughter’s self-tanner, thinking that will help,” she said

Ripa added: “All of my hair products, and all of my makeup is locked in the studio, which is closed because of everything that is going on. I realized it was such a blessing to have this place to keep everything, right? But I wish I had the foresight to say, ‘what if I can’t get anything?’ So now I’m just in an 18-year-old’s self-tanner and workout clothes.”

Ripa uses hair clips to tame her gray hair

Like many women, Ripa also has a fair amount of gray hair growing in. Last month, she shared with fans on an episode of Live that she had not been able to see a colorist and, as such, was trying to keep her gray hair in check.

Because of this, Ripa revealed she used root spray to give her hair some color. However,  gray hair tends to also be course and stand up on their own. In that case, Ripa would employ the help of hair clips to keep her gray hair more in line with her blond strands.

Ripa ties her hair back for a ‘face lift’ effect

During quarantine, Ripa fell in love with the ponytail hairstyle. Fans who have seen Ripa’s show might know that the TV host rarely ties her hair back. However, Ripa has discovered this is actually a good way to give herself a “face lift” amid the pandemic.

“All this time I’ve been using [my hair] as crutch to hide my face,” she said, as reported by People. “If you pull it back tight enough it’s like giving yourself a face lift.”

Ripa admits looks ‘don’t matter’ as much to her anymore

At the end of the day, however, Ripa does not seem to lose sleep over her appearance. According to Us Weekly, in an episode of Live in May, Ripa shared that COVID-19 has allowed her to look at beauty in a new way.

“I have a new outlook on life,” she said. “Certain things don’t matter anymore and my appearance is one of those things that just don’t matter.”
