Beyoncé’s nephew, Julez, just turned 16, and she helped him ring in his birthday in the best way possible.

Seeing as Julez couldn’t have a huge party to celebrate this milestone occasion due to the coronavirus pandemic, Bey decided to throw her nephew an intimate birthday party at her lavish Bel-Air mansion. But making sure the son of her sister, Solange Knowles, had a perfect venue for his party wasn’t the only reason the singer held the get together at her home.

Read on below to find out why Bey took on the role of party hostess for her nephew’s special day.

Beyoncé and her kids reunited with loved ones to celebrate Julez’s special day

On Oct. 18, Beyoncé’s nephew, Daniel Julez J. Smith Jr., who goes by Julez, turned the big 1-6 and the entire Knowles-Carter family came together to help him celebrate this special milestone.

In a video from Julez’s birthday party, the teenager can be seen checking out his birthday cake while surrounded by a bunch of kids — including Bey’s daughter Rumi. Though they were the only ones who fans caught a glimpse of in the video, the “Formation” singer could be heard talking in the background.

“I wanted to get a picture of Julez by the cake with the camera,” she said.

While it’s unclear how many people attended Julez’s birthday party, HollywoodLife recently revealed that the low-key get together included Julez’s mom Solange, his father Daniel Smith, grandma Tina Knowles-Lawson, as well as Bey, her husband Jay-Z, and their kids.

Bey hosted her nephew’s party at her and Jay-Z’s Bel Air compound

In addition to revealing which Knowles-Carter family members attended the Julez’s birthday party, Hollywood Life shared a few other details about the intimate get together.

One specific fact about the party the outlet revealed was that the Queen Bey herself hosted the shindig and used her and Jay-Z’s $88 million estate in Bel Air as the venue for the occasion.

As for why the couple — who’s known for being notoriously private —decided to host Julez’s birthday party in their home, insiders reveal that they just wanted to make their nephew’s special day worthwhile.

“Beyoncé and Jay wanted to do something special for Julez’s 16th birthday because of everything going on with the pandemic, so they invited the entire family over to their Bel Air home to celebrate the milestone occasion,” a source close to the singer tells HollywoodLife.

Since he “couldn’t be with his friends” due to social distancing regulations, Beyoncé held a family celebration instead because “it was important to her for their family to be together.”

“[The party] actually ended up being better than something over the top with a ton of people because it gave them an opportunity to spend quality family time together, just hang out, relax, and not stress over the details or try to impress anyone with putting on an elaborate event. It was a great time for everybody,” the source adds.

Though she couldn’t go all out for Julez’s special day, Beyoncé still plans to give him the ultimate 16th birthday party once it’s safe to hold large gatherings again.

“[Julez] is her pride and joy as much as her own kids [Rumi, Blue Ivy and Sir Carter] are and she loves to spoil him,” a separate source shared. “When [the pandemic] is all over and it’s safe to do so she plans to throw him the birthday party of his dreams.”

If only we had an aunt like Beyoncé.
