Do celebrities owe their adoring fans details about all the moves they make in their private lives? That’s the question at the center of a recent conversation surrounding the Kardashian-Jenner family and their continued denial that they’ve had plastic surgery.

By this point, the denial from Kim Kardashian West and her sisters has become a punchline for multiple jokes, and most fans are convinced that at least some of the famous sisters — not to mention their mother Kris Jenner — have gone under the knife.

While speculation flies about just what procedures have taken place, the Kardashian-Jenners continue to admit only to minor procedures, and fans continue to roll their eyes in response.

Maybe we don’t have a right to know and should just leave the family with their privacy — at least that’s what some fans are saying about the controversy.

It’s hard to say that the Kardashian-Jenner family deserves privacy with a straight face. After all, their entire rise to fame was predicated on opening up their lives to constant scrutiny.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians is the reality TV platform that helped make all the rest of their fame possible, and it featured up-close-and-personal — and sometimes fabricated — moments of drama to keep fans tuned in.

Over the years, however, the sisters have grown up and gone from socialites aching to be in the spotlight to mothers, wives, and career women who have been much more protective of what goes on behind closed doors.

The family has announced the show is wrapping up with its 20th season, and much of that has to do with the sisters distancing themselves from the prying eyes of the cameras.

With kids who are getting older — and are prone to media speculation themselves — and other projects in the works beyond reality TV, it seems that their relationship to the public has changed.

Fans have long suspected plastic surgery for the Kardashian-Jenners

The Kardashian-Jenner family members have spent much of their lives in the spotlight. They’ve been endlessly photographed when out in public and keep a constant barrage of selfies flowing on their social media pages.

This has given fans lots of opportunities to investigate their faces. In the process, fans have convinced themselves that the family members have undergone extensive plastic surgery

Khloe Kardashian has been the target of the most vehement accusations as fans have pointed out she has a “new face.” All the sisters and Kris Jenner have each faced their own set of accusations over the years, however. From nose jobs to lip surgery and face lifts to Botox, fans are convinced that the family uses surgical enhancement to alter their looks and keep their skin looking smooth and free of flaws.

The family, for the most part, has remained insistent that they haven’t gone under the knife. Instead, they point to makeup, photography tricks, and occasional minor procedures like lip fillers as the culprits.

Kardashian-Jenner surgeries are none of our business, fans say

Many fans have made it clear they don’t believe the Kardashian-Jenners when they deny plastic surgery, but now some fans are asking why it matters.

In a Reddit thread, a poster opened up with a claim that the Kardashian-Jenners are “gaslighting” their fans — a reference to a form of psychological abuse where an abuser throws doubt on legitimate concerns to continue their manipulation unabated.

Some fans were quick to come to the family’s defense, however. One commenter chimed in with, “Since when are we entitled to know about private beauty procedures? I know this is an unpopular opinion, but our self-esteem is our responsibility.”

Another added, “They’ve obviously had plastic surgery, but taking the point that they’re somehow obligated to tell everyone about it seems asinine. To what end? So people can figure out another reason to tell themselves that they’re better than the Kardashians?”

Some fans think whether the Kardashian-Jenners have had work done or not isn’t really a matter of public concern, and they think fans should back off — or at least find something new to talk about.
