The hit Netflix series The Last Kingdom is currently back in production in Hungary, but season 5 will be the final season of the show. It’s a sad turn of events for fans, but at least there is one more season to go before it’s all over.
Emily Cox, who plays Brida in the series, recently shared an epic throwback photo of herself as Brida from season 4. We have all the details fans will want to know about it.
Season 5 of ‘The Last Kingdom’ is back in production, but it will be the last season
The story of Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), son of Uhtred is drawing to a close with season 5, which will be the final season. Deadline announced the news of the conclusion of the series with season 5, verifying the news with Netflix and Carnival Films.
But the same day the sad news was released, a video was posted later on the official social media channels that the show is back in production. Dreymon, who plays Uhtred, made the announcement. Many of our favorites could be seen in the video, including Emily Cox dressed as Brida.
Brida in ‘The Last Kingdom’
Brida was a Saxon child when she was taken in by the Danes. She becomes lovers with Uhtred at one point, and they grew up together. But their relationship is more than complicated. In season 4, Brida holds a grudge against him for not killing her when the Welsh find her in battle, as she thought she would then go to Valhalla. She’s taken as a slave by them, and it’s a hard time for her. But she is set free by Sigtryggr (Eysteinn Sigurðarson), and she finds herself allied with him when they invade Wessex, taking Winchester. But Sigtryggr eventually comes to an agreement with the Saxons, taking Stiorra (Ruby Hartley) with him as a stipulation for him leaving Winchester and being given possession of Eoferwic.
Brida finds herself face to face with Uhtred, and she fights him, but Uhtred allows her to leave, and she goes into labor with Cnut’s (Magnus Bruun) child before the season concludes.
Emily Cox posts epic throwback photo of Brida
On May 28, 2021, Emily Cox posted an epic throwback photo of Brida. In it, she’s wearing a collar, and she’s chained from the neck with scratches and dried blood on her face. Brida was taken as a slave, and the image is from that time in season 4. Her hair is up with a skeleton of a dead animal skull weaved into her hair, and she looks at the camera.
Emily captioned the post on Instagram: “Throwback! Which Season? Which Scene? 🧚♀️😘.” She tagged The Last Kingdom’s official account while adding a few hashtags, “#thelastkingdom #brida.”
It’s always nice to see throwback photos from previous seasons of The Last Kingdom. Now that production is underway for season 5, hopefully there will be plenty more images shared before it’s all over. Season 5 can’t get here fast enough for eager fans, but hopefully images like this can hold them over.
