‘The Last Kingdom’: Fans React to the New ‘Set Mascot’
Season 5 of The Last Kingdom is currently back in production in Hungary, which is great news for fans. However, season 5 will be the final season, which is hard for fans to come to terms with. But thankfully, there’s one more season to go before it’s really all over.
Alexander Dreymon, who plays Uhtred, recently revealed the new “set mascot” via his social media. What are fans saying? We have all the details.

On May 25, 2021, Dreymon shared a post on his Instagram of the new “set mascot.” The post includes a collection of videos, and in the first one, Dreymon can be seen sitting in a chair, presumably in the makeup room. His hair is made up as Uhtred, and he pets a calico cat while he wears a black shirt. The cat purrs next to him contently nearby in the chair.
Then, someone comes on the walkie talkie, and Dreymon makes a face saying, “Anyone out the chair yet. No,” he reveals. “We’re busy petting the cat,” he says while holding the walkie talkie.
In another video, Dreymon is up from the chair as he pets the cat, who sits in the chair. He says, “I’ll be back” before petting the cat some more, and he leaves out the door. In the final video, loud noise can be heard, but the cat lays in the chair asleep on a towel.
Dreymon captioned the post while revealing the cat, named CC, is the “set mascot,” which is appropriate: “’CC’ is our set mascot. She was a stray; now, she’s part of the TLK fam. She likes to sleep…cuddle…cuddle while she sleeps…and to sleep while being cuddled. (She pretends to be in love with me, but really, any lap will do…).”
He also adds: “If you watch season 5 carefully, you might spot her passed out somewhere in the back of a shot. #cat #purr #catsofinstagram #adoptdontshop.” Over 97,000 people liked the post and over 3,000 commented on it.
Fans react to the new ‘set mascot’
As can be expected, fans have a lot of opinions about the cat, who is the “set mascot” according to Dreymon.
“Cannot wait for Season 5 & to spot CC the AethelCat!!😍,” a fan said in the comments.
One fan says CC has “claimed” Dreymon. “She has claimed you Alex!” they said. “You better take her home after filming! 😂😂.”
Another fan calls the cat the “luckiest cat in the world. ❤️.”
A fan wonders “who’s giving her a forever home,” and we’d like to know the answer as well.
“Not to be dramatic but I would risk it all for CC,” another fan weighs in.
