‘The Last Kingdom’: Fans Weigh in on Renaming the Show, and the Responses Are on Point: ‘The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Uhtred Ragnarsson’
The Last Kingdom is a fan-favorite series on Netflix. News of the series ending after season 5 recently came out, which of course is sad news for loyal fans. However, there’s one more season to go before it’s all over.
Fans on Reddit recently weighed in on renaming the show, and these responses are must-see for fans of the series.
What’s ‘The Last Kingdom’ about?
The Last Kingdom, which is based on Bernard Cornwell’s beloved novel series The Saxon Stories, follows Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon), son of Uhtred. He was born a Saxon destined to be the Lord of Bebbanburg, but he’s taken by the Danes and raised as one of their own once his father is killed in battle. He’s constantly torn with a foot in two camps – the Saxons who he comes from and the Danes who raised him. As can be expected, a lot of drama goes down, and Uhtred finds himself allied with different major players over the years, including King Alfred of Wessex (David Dawson) and his two children.
An important part of the story includes Uhtred seeking to get his home of Bebbanburg back, which was usurped by his Uncle Aelfric (Joseph Millson) and then by his cousin, Wihtgar (Ossian Perret).
Fans weigh in on renaming the show
As with any major show, the thought of renaming it has crossed the minds of fans before. On May 8, 2021, a fan posted on Reddit with a post titled, “Rename the show.” They continued in the post: “So been watching this show with my wife, she’s a huge fan. Today I thought f*** they really should just rename this show: ‘Uthred has a bad day’ 🤣🤣🤣🤣. She’s mad now at me because of the accuracy of this statement.”
In the comments, fans weighed in with their own thoughts on the subject of renaming the show, and they didn’t hold back. One fan commented with the option, “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Uhtred Ragnarsson.” This name fits as Uhtred does make a fair amount of poor choices over the course of the series.
While another fan weighed in saying, “The S***** Decisions of Uthred Ragnarsson.”
‘Uhtred, son of Uhtred’
A fan said, “Should of just been called ‘Uthred, son of Uthred.’” It’s a saying fans are familiar with, as it’s repeated throughout the course of the series numerous times.
“How about: ‘Carry On, Arseling,’” another fan commented.
‘Destiny Is All’
A fan commented with their own thoughts. “I would have called it ‘Destiny Is All,’” they said. “Or ‘Brida Sucks.’” Destiny is all is something Uhtred says in the series, so it would be a fitting name as well.
One fan commented with, “’Uhtred, no!’” which is pretty hilarious, and has to be something the character has heard once or twice before.
“The name is, ‘The Increasingly Dumb Decisions of Uhtred of Bebbanburg,’” another fan said.
‘Shield Wall: The Series’
Another phrase fans have heard before is “Shield wall,” as it’s a way of fighting that’s popular in the show. “Shield Wall: The Series,” a fan weighed in on as a possible renaming of the show.
