‘The Last Kingdom’ season 5 has finished filming

Filming has officially finished for the hit series. The news came on June 22, 2021. Jon East, one of the directors for season 5 and someone who has also directed previous episodes before, shared the news via social media, including Instagram. In the post, a clapperboard is being held by a hand, and it has the name of the series on it as well as the date June 21, 2021. Jon East’s name is also on the clapperboard as well as the director.

East captioned the post revealing the news: “It’s most definitely a wrap!!! As of last night, TLK5 is in the (digital) can. Phew! That last block – eps 9&10 – was an absolute monster, a BEAST, which eclipsed in complexity and scale anything else that I’ve directed on this amazing show since I first helmed episodes back in 2016. If nothing else, I can at least reveal that the show’s last season is going out in truly EPIC style! Big thanks here to the remarkable team that worked with tireless devotion to make it so, you are all stars! Respect.”

The official social media accounts for the series also shared the news via East’s posts.

See Mark Rowley (Finan) wakeboarding

Rowley plays Finan in the series, and he is a warrior from Ireland. He’s a good friend to Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) along with Sihtric (Arnas Fedaravicius). He was once a slave with Uhtred when they first crossed paths, but they are freed. Their friendship has grown stronger over the years, which has been interesting to witness.

Rowley recently shared a video of himself wakeboarding. On June 22, 2021, Rowley posted a video of himself in water getting up on a wakeboard as he holds onto a wakeboard rope without foot bindings on. Another person can be seen at first on the boat as well.

Rowley manages to get up on the board and ride the waves, even holding up a peace sign. At one point, he takes his other hand from the rope and even makes motions like throwing money at one point. But he eventually falls off while holding the cable with one hand, landing in the water flat. Throughout the short clip, other people can be heard on the boat as well as the sound of the water.

Rowley captioned the post: “A last moment of madness with the best cast and friends on this planet! I was so happy I managed to stand up! Sky diving next?” Over 45,000 people viewed the video, and over 100 commented on it.

It’s always great to see moments like this shared by our favorite actors in the show. We’ll have to see what else they share before the series finally premieres with the final season of The Last Kingdom.
