Following Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell announcement to “step down as senior royals” and spend time in “North America” many questions have been raised.

Some royal fans have speculated about if the prince and former actress are planning to move to California soon to be close to Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. And others have wondered what type of relationship Harry has with his wife’s mom now that he is more than 4,000 miles away from his family. Well, Ragland is like Queen Elizabeth II in one major way and that is something Harry values. Here’s what that is, plus more on Harry’s relationship with his mother-in-law including the tragic thing both of them have dealt with.

How Meghan’s mom is just like Queen Elizabeth

By all accounts, the Duke of Sussex has a close relationship with Ragland. The prince is said to be very fond of her and asks her for advice. It’s also been reported that Meghan’s mom was instrumental in the couple’s choice to step away from royal life.

Some have noted that she is a mother figure to Harry and someone who, like him, lost her own mother as well. Ragland’s mom, Jeanette, died three years after Princess Diana, therefore, they each can relate to what that loss is like.

Moreover, Harry appreciates that Ragland doesn’t seek attention and never talks to the press, which is quite different from many of Meghan’s other family members.

“For Harry, her discretion and silence mean the world,” an insider said.

The source added that the royal also loves how Ragland reminds him of Queen Elizabeth in that “she never complains and never explains.”

Will the Sussexes move to California near the duchess’ mom?

One of the biggest questions the public has had since Megxit is: Will Harry and Meghan make the move to Los Angeles to be near Ragland?

It’s not far-fetched to think that the pair would move there so Archie could be close to his grandmother, especially considering that he is so far away from the rest of his family now. A number of sources have repeatedly said that moving to L.A. is the couple’s goal in the future.

According to People, the duke and duchess will “likely have houses in both [L.A. and Canada].” Others have claimed that the time frame of when they would do that though depends on the upcoming presidential election.

Meghan has made it clear that she is not a supporter of Donald Trump and many believe that she will not move her family to the country while he is the president. If that is truly the case, then we’ll know in November if the Sussexes will be heading to Tinseltown in late 2020 or in 2024.
