With so much popular culture on hold, for the time being, Star Wars fans can rest easy knowing that The Mandalorian will debut its second season in October.

In Star Wars’ first attempt at a live-action television series, fans follow the titular Mandalorian as he carts around a creature dubbed as Baby Yoda by the internet.

For Season 2, however, some fans speculate that Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis, the protagonist of Jedi: Fallen Order, could leap to the live-action world

‘The Mandalorian’ season 2

The Mandalorian was one of Disney’s selling points when they launched Disney+ last year. Although it was not the first stab at a television Star Wars world, it was the first live-action attempt at a series.

While the animated Star Wars series were hits among fans of the galaxy far away, many wondered whether or not the live-action take on the universe was sustainable for the wildly expensive franchise.

However, when Disney+was launched and fans got to know who the Mandalorian was, all doubt was pushed aside. If Star Wars is about massive intergalactic conflicts, the series is a smaller tale more akin to a western. The title character is a bounty hunter who travels across the galaxy, collecting undesirable characters for money.

The result was a genre-bending look at how the Star Wars universe can benefit from a different look away from the Skywalker Saga. With other series planned, it needed to be a success, and it was.

One aspect of the series that had fans coming back for more in season one was the casting. From known actors like Carl Weathers to strange appearances by eccentric film director Werner Herzog, The Mandalorian took risks that other franchise properties wouldn’t dare to do.

However, if fans on Reddit get their way, could that include bringing a video game world into real life?

Star Wars has a relationship with the video game world that few can match. Since the earliest days of Nintendo, Star Wars has taken many forms, from chess to racing games to the mega-successful Knights of the Old Republic franchise. However, the video game universe has connected loosely to events that unwound on screen.

In Jedi: Fallen Order, players met a Jedi Padawan named Cal. Cal goes through the tests required to become a Jedi as he guides his way through familiar universes from the franchise’s mythology. However, after fans noticed some game-exclusive locations in the trailer for the upcoming season of The Mandalorian, some speculated that Cal could make his live-action debut in the series.

Cameron Monaghan, who provided his voice and likeness to the video game, is no stranger to television. He had long runs in both Shameless and Gotham.

With A fresh slate, it’s not impossible that Monaghan would appear in the series in some way, shape, or form. Fans on Reddit had a field day speculating about how that could happen.

Reddit user luhloyd recognized a similar-sounding song in the trailer for the new season.

“At the 1:22 mark is that the Crystal Cave on Ilum that we see in Jedi: Fallen Order?”

From there, fans speculated about how this would fit into the mythology laid out in the films. Logistically, there might be some plot holes if Cal came into the real world. However, if fans were able to suspend belief and the writers could come up with a plausible reason for him to be there, this could go beyond the realm of internet speculation.

As of now, fans will have to wait until October to see the new season. Whether or not Cal makes an appearance, it promises to be an intriguing journey filled with bountiful surprises.
