Baby Yoda caught plenty of heat for sneaking the Frog Lady’s eggs in Chapter 10 of The Mandalorian. While some fans assume he did it because he was hungry, others think he might have more honorable motives. Here’s why some fans believe Baby Yoda has secret plans for the frog eggs.

Chapter 10 of ‘The Mandalorian’ introduces the Frog Lady

As seen in The Mandalorian season 2 premiere, Mando is on a quest to find other Mandalorians. He hopes to return The Child, aka Baby Yoda, to his home planet with their help.

So, in Chapter 10, “The Passenger,” Peli Motto introduces him to a Frog Lady (her name is unknown) that promises to provide information about other Mandalorians in exchange for a ride to her husband’s planet.

According to Peli, Frog Lady is on a mission. She only has a limited number of eggs — she carries them in a clear liquid-filled container — and she needs her husband to fertilize them to ensure her line continues. Her one condition is that Din can’t take her through hyperspace because she believes it will kill her eggs.

Baby Yoda swallows several of her eggs

Mando agrees to take the Frog Lady to her husband, and because they have to take the slow route, he tells her to settle in for a long nap.  Meanwhile, Baby Yoda finds her egg container and manages to open it. When Mando goes to the back of the ship to check on him, he finds Baby Yoda snacking away on the Frog Lady’s eggs.

“No, no, no, no,” Mando yells as he pulls Baby Yoda away from the egg container. “That is not food. Don’t do that again.”

After the Razor Crest crashes into an icy cave, Mando finds Baby Yoda eating more eggs. He reprimands him again. But when they head back out to find Frog Lady’s husband, the little green guy manages to sneak one more.

Some ‘The Mandalorian’ fans think Baby Yoda has plans for those swallowed eggs

Baby Yoda is adorable, so it’s disturbing to think he just ate the Frog Lady’s eggs despite seeing how much they mean to hear. Some fans chalked it up to him being an innocent toddler driven more by hunger than anything else. And others wondered if it meant Baby Yoda was being pulled to the Dark Side of the Force.

But a few fans speculated that he only ate the eggs to preserve them. After pointing out Baby Yoda swallowed them whole, one Redditor suggested that he might have done it because “the rest of the eggs will end up nonviable, and the baby will end up regurgitating the eggs he swallowed, which will be viable.”

“I would be surprised if Baby Yoda REALLY was consuming those eggs, and not “storing” them for safekeeping (Force Premonition perhaps that they would be lost and some inside themselves would be safer),” another Reddit fan wrote. “But that just might be my wishful thinking.”

It’s still unclear why Baby Yoda does the things he does. But hopefully, as this season of The Mandalorian continues, fans will better understand who and what he really is.
