The second season of The Mandalorian thankfully completed filming before COVID-19 quarantining hit, meaning the new season is a go with a lot of surprises in store.

With that means various Star Wars rumors are flying around about actors being signed to play everyone from Ahsoka Tano (reportedly Rosario Dawson) to possibly Boba Fett. At the front of the pack is actor Temuera Morrison who happened to take part in the Star Wars movie prequels.

Most people will remember Morrison playing Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. With news he may play Boba Fett in The Mandalorian, fans are speculating whether this is accurate. On top of it, some wonder if he might play another pivotal clone from the planet Kamino.

What are the chances Temuera Morrison will play Boba Fett?

On Reddit, fans are still wondering if the mysterious figure seen in the first season of The Mandalorian really is Boba Fett. Clues given at the time certainly point to it, mostly from the distinguishing jingling spurs he was wearing.

Others think this could be a ruse, plus overly obvious fan service in using old villains from the original Star Wars movies. If Boba Fett is alive, a lot of explaining is going to need doing. And trying to explain it all within a short period will be a challenge without taking too much time.

After all, managing to crawl out of that Sarlacc Monster’s digestive system was probably not a pretty sight, if almost impossible. Not that Boba Fett is much different from The Mandalorian in being able to escape just about every perilous situation.

Should Morrison play Boba Fett, there may be a past clue to why he will.

Fans on Reddit also want Temuera Morrison to play Rex, Boba Fett’s brother

Having the haunting storyline of Jango Fett creating various clones while on Kamino was already a convenient plot point. These clones included Boba…and older Rex as just two. However, as a Reddit user says above: “I think he (Morrison) will be playing Boba instead of Rex mostly just due to that tease from episode 5 of the first season. I mean last time we saw Boba he was on Tatooine, I’m imagining they chose that planet for a reason.”

For those unfamiliar with Rex, he was a much older clone brother to Boba Fett. Known originally as CT-7567, Rex became a supreme soldier who joined up with Ahsoka Tano to fight in The Clone Wars. He also helped in the Battle of Endor since he was living there at the time of Return of the Jedi.

Fans also think he may be still alive during the time of The Mandalorian, giving possibility Morrison could also play Rex in a cameo. Since Boba Fett may stay masked, Morrison could just voice Boba, then play Rex in the flesh.

Based on Morrison being older now, he looks like what an older Rex would look like a little while after the time of Return of the Jedi.

One clue: Temuera Morrison voiced Boba Fett in an ‘Empire Strikes Back’ DVD

According to Vanity Fair, during a 2004 special edition re-release of The Empire Strikes Back, Morrison did a new voice dub for Boba Fett. Some might consider this the biggest sign he was intended to play Boba Fett should he ever return.

Sixteen years later, it appears he will, despite a different actor playing Boba in the suit during Empire Strikes Back. Legendary character actor Jason Wingreen also did the voice of Boba back then.

Should Morrison play Boba and Rex as some Reddit users above think, it might be just the beginning of other characters he could play. Most of all, fans seeing Rex reunited with Ahsoka Tano in live-action form might have more significance than Boba Fett being unmasked as an older man.
