The Bear on ‘The Masked Singer’

Since the start of season 3, fans have been trying to figure outt who was inside the cotton-candy colored Bear costume. In the clue package, she hinted she’s both a “hunter and hunted” and said that “after years of hearing all the phony bologna,” she’s “sick of everyone not knowing”  who she really is.

The Bear’s clue package also included shots of a full house of playing cards and men’s ice hockey skates. “This momma bear is coming out of hibernation,” she said on the show, adding, “Tonight, I, Bear, exercise my right to a killer performance.”

The Bear is revealed as Sarah Palin

For her performance, The Bear sang Sir Mix-A-Lot’s iconic ‘90s hit, “Baby Got Back.” While Nicole Scherzinger suggested she might be Christina Applegate, Robin Thicke guessed she was SNL alum, Tina Fey. After noting the hockey skates in the clue package, Jenny McCarthy and Kevin Jeong went with Candace Cameron Bure.

But the audience voted, and The Bear was eliminated. “Bear, it’s time to show us who you really are,” Nick Cannon said as he helped her pull off her mask. Both the audience and the judges were shocked to see former vice presidential nominee and Alaska governor, Sarah Palin.

“This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever done, that’s for sure, but it’s all about fun,” a hyped Palin said. “It’s unity. This is all good. This is something that our country needs right now, too.”

‘The Masked Singer’ fans see a sign in Sarah Palin’s final performance

It’s not always easy to guess who is under the colorful costumes of The Masked Singer, so when a celebrity is finally revealed, it’s always a welcome event. But when Palin was unmasked as The Bear, and went on to sing her version of “Baby Got Back,” fans were left bewildered.

Some felt that her performance, combined with the rise of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic,  was a sign of end times. “Economies collapsing. Worldwide virus pandemic may result in millions of deaths. Sarah Palin on TV doing ‘Baby Got Back’ in a fur suit,” tweeted one fan. “Well done, Book of Revelations. You nailed it…”

“It’s Sarah Palin ‘rapping’ baby got back on The Masked Singer,” tweeted another viewer. “Rapture please just take us we’re ready.”

Seeing Paling rapping about butts left some viewers questioning their reality. “Among all the chaos in the world, Sarah Palin is singing Baby Got Back on the Masked Singer,” wrote one Twitter user. “We are living in a simulation and it has collapsed upon itself.”

To add to fans bewilderment, as soon as Palin finished performing, Fox News anchor Bret Baier appeared on-screen with a somber message. “This is coverage of President Donald Trump’s primetime address to the nation on the coronavirus, which the World Health Organization today declared a global pandemic,” said Baier.

“Sarah Palin rapping ‘Baby Got Back’ on The Masked Singer with a fade into a Trump coronavirus update is the psychedelic dystopia we’re living in now,” wrote a Twitter user, summing up the sentiments of the night.
