Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork performed as actors on ‘The Monkees’ for two seasons

After answering a casting call from the producers of a television series who looked for “folk & roll musicians, singers for acting roles in new TV series,” Dolenz and Tork unknowingly became a part of television and music history. Along with Davy Jones and Mike Nesmith, the prefab four would evolve to become more than just actors on a series. They would eventually break a Billboard record for four number one albums in one year and go on to tour for decades after the series ended in 1968.

In an interview with Cleveland Scene published in 2017, Tork spoke of his longtime friendship with Dolenz.

“Micky, I enjoy hugely. We have had some very good times together. We laughed a lot and paid attention to what each other is doing on stage and so there’s communication there. Micky’s always been a lot of fun,” Tork said of Dolenz.
