The Morning Show is such an intense drama. Even colleagues like Alex (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) are also at each other’s throats. Hopefully, it’s all acting so it doesn’t bleed into their real lives. Fortunately, many of the cast members of The Morning Show spoke with Showbiz Cheat Sheet by Webex on Sept. 10, so could confirm they get along.

Karen Pittman plays Mia but in season 1 it looked like Mia had no friends. Control room technicians badmouthed her even though she was their boss. Season 2 has brought Pittman closer to her co-stars.

“I would say in this past season, definitely Greta Lee and Desean Terry and Mark Duplass,” Pittman said. “For a myriad of reasons, we have families. We are interested in telling the same stories. We’re likeminded. We’re all kindred spirits to some extent but it was an extraordinarily difficult time and for me as a human being, I wanted to grab hold of the people around me and just let them know I was there for them. In a lot of ways, I think those actors help the same way. It was a really bonding experience this last season. Hard but bonding.”

Terry also confirmed his friendship with Pittman. He plays Daniel, a correspondent struggling for more air time and bigger stories that often go to his less qualified colleagues.

“I definitely say the person that I’m closest to is Karen,” Terry said. “There’s a lot of things. We actually have friends from theater in New York. I’m a theater boy. She grew up in the theater and so it’s been a really, really great bonding experience. I love everyone but we’ve been able to spend quite an amount of time together and she really feels like a friend and feels like home.”

Lee joined the cast of The Morning Show this season. Her character, Stella, answers to Cory (Billy Crudup). So Lee said that sharing so many juicy scenes made them friends.

“I had so much to do with Billy that it has been a real pleasure getting to know him,” Lee said. “We both come from theater as well and I would say I also really love Nestor Carbonell and Karen Pittman, Desean Terry.”

Nobody’s mentioned Aniston or Witherspoon yet. Lee confirmed they are friends, too.

“Obviously Jen and Reese, it was such a pinch me moment to get to come to work every day with them,” Lee said.

Carbonell plays weatherman Yanko Flores and also counts the TMS team among his friends.

“We are, we’re a tight bunch,” Carbonell said. “Janina Gavankar I’ve become very close to, Desean, Karen Pittman.”

Season 2 introduced Ty Fitzgerald (Ruairi O’Connor) and Carbonell says he fit in quickly. Perhaps he filled the void left by Bel Powley, as Yanko’s ex-girlfriend, Claire.

“Ruairi this season has become a close friend of mine,” Carbonell said. “Obviously Bel Powly is a sweetheart. All of them, Billy, Mark Duplass, now I’m naming the entire cast. But no, we’re a fun bunch. I think we’re fun. We enjoy each other’s company as far as I know. We do, we get along really well.”

The Morning Show took a longer hiatus than expected, too. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it was almost an extra year before the cast could reunite. Carbonell said that made them even closer when they finally filmed season 2.

“We were shut down for nine months,” Carbonell said. “Obviously we were grateful to come back to work thanks to what Apple provided, the safe environment they provided for us, and definitely grateful just to come back to a job and start working again, but also to see these faces that we’ve come to love and these friendships that we forged on the show. It’s been a real treat, they’re really great people.”

New episodes of The Morning Show premiere Fridays on Apple TV+. We’ll have more with the cast this season on Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
