There are a lot of small details on the set of The Office. Dedicated fans have picked up on them including things actors accidentally left in a shot. Fans caught Jenna Fischer’s real notes on Pam Beesly’s desk. Find out what they said and why she wrote them.

‘The Office’ set had decorations dedicated to the show’s crew

Fans probably noticed that there are certificates and plaques on the walls of the office set. The names on them don’t actually include names of characters, but crew members.

“This is one of my favorite things about our set,” Fischer said on the Office Ladies podcast. “In an effort to give just like a fun personal touch, they would include the names of real crew members.”

Angela Kinsey, who played Angela Martin explained, “For example, we also had a Salesman of the Year and a Humanitarian of the Year plaque and those plaques feature our crew members’ names as well.”

The actors noted that this isn’t unique to The Office. Many shows tend to do this with their sets. Fischer also said her favorite plaque is by Stanley’s (Leslie David Baker) desk. That one has a funny dig at a crew member who complained about not getting their own plaque.

The actors would get in trouble for their computers

The set is full of computers, but sometimes that made it harder to film. The actors were kept from showing many things on their screens while filming.

“There were certain things that we were allowed to show on computer screen like fake documents, the Dunder Mifflin logo, FreeCell games I guess we got that cleared,” Fischer explained on the Office Ladies podcast.

Rainn Wilson once got so tired of being told to change his screen that he said if he had to be reminded again he’d donate $100 to a charity. “He had to pay out so much because he would forget,” Fischer revealed.

Fischer and Kinsey talked about the episode “The Convention” on Office Ladies. Fans wrote in noticing during a scene at reception that there were post-it notes. One read “7-8 p.m. Big Brother CBS, 8-9 p.m. Animal Planet Jane Goodall returns, A&E First 48 Hours.”

The other note reads “Fax Jan, David, and Connie.” A fan asked if these are shows Pam watches. And who was Connie? The other names are in reference to already existing characters, David Wallace (Andy Buckley) and Jan Levinson (Melora Hardin.)

“So I looked at these,” Fischer answered. “These both are in my handwriting. I don’t know. I don’t know who Connie is. I clearly just threw that in there as a little bit of I don’t know spice.”

She continued, “And guys, that was a list of the shows I was planning to watch that night. That’s just a note to myself apparently. I remember being much into Big Brother and I guess I didn’t want to forget to watch this Animal Planet special on Jane Goodall.”

Fischer added, “Well I think this tells you everything you need to know about me. I want a little trash TV. I love animals. And I do like a good mystery.”
